Education Leave/Professional Leave Time. Nurses shall be allowed paid leave time for educational or professional purposes, after completion of the probationary period. Such leave time shall be subject to the scheduling requirements of the Employer. Educational/professional leave time may be used on an hourly basis. Educational/professional leave time shall be available on a calendar year basis in accordance with the schedule below. Education Leave/Professional Leave Time. Current information and skills are imperative to the operation of the agency. Staff are encouraged to seek educational opportunities relevant to their areas of responsibility. Upon completion of the introductory period, employees may use up to three (3) paid education days or a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours per calendar year (prorated by FTE). Use of the leave is subject to approval by their manager consistent with PHHC practice. Such leave time will be subject to the scheduling requirements of the Employer. Educational/ professional leave time may be granted for partial days. Staff utilizing paid education days are expected to provide staff in-services and/or share materials with the Agency. Under special circumstances, managers may request that staff to attend conferences or workshops to represent the agency. When the request for attendance is from the agency, the time will not be subtracted from the staff member's education days and all approved costs of the conference will be at the agency's expense. Subject to appropriate advance notice and scheduling requirements, two (2) Union Officer, Delegate or Contract Committee member may take one (1) day per calendar year unpaid leave/professional leave time to attend union-sponsored training in leadership, representation and dispute resolution.

Upon completion of the probationary period, employees classified as RN, LPN, MSW, OT, PT, PTA, XXXX, Bereavement Counselor or SLP may use up to four (4) paid education days or a maximum of 32 hours per calendar year; all other employees may use up to two (2) paid education days or a maximum of sixteen (16) hours per calendar year. Use of the leave is subject to approval by their manager according to the parameters outlined in PSHCH’s policies. Unused amounts of Education Leave/Professional Leave time may be carried over from one calendar year to the following year only. Such leave time will be subject to the scheduling requirements of the Employer. Educational/ professional leave time may be granted for partial days. Staff utilizing paid education days are expected to provide staff in-services and/or share materials with the Agency. Under special circumstances, managers may request that staff attend conferences or workshops to represent the agency. Related to Education Leave/Professional Leave Time

  • Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part- time employees who are elected to or appointed to the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario or the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario subject to the following limitations:

  • Professional Leaves 1. Professional Leaves are to be used by an employee to gain knowledge for the position contracted through Bath Local Schools. The employee must request Professional Leave through the employee kiosk. Upon approval, the employee may be permitted to attend the Professional Meeting and will be paid at the regular rate.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.
