Tuberculosis Exposure Control Program. All employees working in patient care areas will be provided PPD screenings in accordance with Swedish Medical Center policy. Employees in high risk areas may be screened more frequently. Any employee who is a PPD converter as a result of an occupational exposure will be referred to a Public Health physician or appropriate medical specialist for follow up, including preventive therapy at no cost to the employee. It is the employee's responsibility to get their TB test timely in accordance with Swedish's Employee Health policy. Employees will be provided between thirty (30) and sixty (60) days advance notice of the need to get a TB test.

In the event of a positive reaction to the test, the Employer will provide a chest x-ray at no cost. The Employer will continue to provide annual PPD screening to all employees at no cost to the employee. Employees may be screened more frequently on an as needed basis. Upon request of a health care provider, a routine blood examination and urinalysis will be provided at no cost to the employee once each year.

All employees working in patient care areas will have tuberculosis screening at hire. Any employee who has a positive tuberculosis test as a result of an occupational exposure will be referred to an appropriate medical specialist for follow up. Cost of the tuberculosis testing, medical follow-up, and x-ray when required will be paid for by the Employer or Employer's Worker's compensation plan, whichever is appropriate.

All other employees shall get PPD screening upon request. Data showing all PPD test results (i.e., the conversion rate) will be available for a year-to-year comparison to the Health and Safety Committee. Any employee who is a PPD converter will be referred by the Employer to the Public Health Department, or to a medical specialist if requested, for appropriate follow-up, including preventive therapy, at no cost to the employee, unless the origin is shown to be non-work related. The Union shall appoint a staff nurse representative to serve on tl1e Infection Control Committee (which shall also include the TB sub-committee). This representative shall be compensated at the appropriate rate of pay for their meeting time and any mandatory preparation time. This committee shall continue to assess the need for and necessity of PPD screenings, or other appropriate diagnostic tests.

Tuberculosis Exposure Control Program. All employees working in patient care areas will receive TB skin testing at the time of hire at no cost to the employee. Thereafter, the Hospital conducts annual risk assessments to determine the urgency of required subsequent TB testing. In the event of a positive test result, the Hospital will arrange for further testing in accordance with the protocols recommended by the Washington Department of Health at no cost to the employee; provided however, if the employee does not complete the testing and treatment processes per the Hospital's Infection Control Policies, retesting and treatment will be at the employee's expense, absent extenuating circumstances.
