Educational Increments. In addition to the foregoing salaries, the following will be paid: 1. For special clinical preparation (CCU/ICU) of a minimum of fifty (50) hours over a three month period $15.00 per month 2. For a course in Nursing Unit Administration (CHA/CAN) $15.00 per month 3. For a one (1) year University diploma or Note: All above increments are applicable only when Nurses are employed in a capacity directly utilizing this preparation. Further, it is understood that clinical preparation must be approved by the College of Nurses, Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and/or Ontario Hospital Association. Educational Increments. The Health Centre will recognize the successful completion of post-basic training on the following basis: Certificate or diploma for one (1) year University In a nursing course $40.00 per month Baccalaureate degree in Nursing $80.00 per month Master's Degree in Nursing $120.00 per month The Health Centre will also recognize successful completion of post-graduate courses in nursing specialities of three (3) months or more duration, and related correspondence courses sponsored by the Canadian Hospital Association such as Nursing Unit Administration by the payment of fifteen dollars ($15.00) per month, provided such course is effectively utilized by the nurse in her regular work. The Health Centre may also recognize successful completion of post-basic courses in nursing specialities of less than three (3) months duration by the payment of ten dollars ($10.00) per month, provided such course is effectively utilized by the nurse in her regular work. • Post-basic equates to post-graduate; • The forty dollars ($40.00) per month Certificate or Diploma is one (1) obtained from either a College or a University; • Post-graduate courses of three (3) months or more equates to thirty (30) hours or more.

The contract facsimile provided at the end of the school year for the next contract year will provide an education section showing credits obtained. The Board shall accept experience and educational credits for salary schedule advancement if the following criteria are met: • A grade slip, transcript, or a letter from the college, indicating credits have been earned for salary schedule advancement, is submitted to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources by October 15. Educational Increments. With effect from the 13th day of July, 1972, the following educational increments shall be applicable to all Registered Nurses and shall be in addition to the above schedules: 1. For Special Course of 3 months or more approved by Director of Nursing Service – $15 per month 2. For successful completion of Course in Nursing Unit administration (CHA/CNA) (Head Nurse and Assistant Head Nurse only) – $15 per month 3. For a one year University Diploma or Certificate in Nursing – $40 per month 4. For a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing – $80 per month 5. The above increments will only be paid when a Nurse is employed in a capacity which required the degree, diploma, certificate or special training referred to above. 6. Proof of the Degree or Certificate from a School of recognized standing must be submitted by the Nurse to the Hospital. 7. A Nurse possessing more than one degree, diploma or certificate shall be entitled only to the highest bonus provided in the schedule.
Educational Increments. (a) Employees who have received an Associate’s Degree, a Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree from an accredited college prior to joining the Department shall receive additional remuneration as follows: Associate's Degree $ 350 per year Bachelor's Degree $ 675 per year Master's Degree $ 925 per year (b) Employees who receive an Associate's Degree, a Bachelor's Degree or a Master's Degree after joining the Department in either a police science, psychology or sociology curriculum shall receive additional remuneration as follows: Associate's Degree $ 350 per year Bachelor's Degree $ 675 per year Master's Degree $ 925 per year (c) Employees who, after joining the Department, receive an Associate's Degree, a Bachelor's Degree or a Master's Degree in a curriculum other than those set forth in (b) above may receive the educational increments set forth above or a portion thereof only at the discretion of and in the amounts approved by the Commission. (d) Employees who have earned or earn thirty (30) credits at an accredited college toward a degree in a police science curriculum (including transfer credits which are acceptable to said college) shall receive an educational increment of $150 per year. (e) The remuneration referred to in paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (d) above shall not be cumulative, and an Employee shall be paid no more than that amount set forth for his/her own specific educational status. (f) Any increment payable pursuant to the above provisions shall be paid by the Town as part of the Employee's regular pay. (g) Employees who attain degree status or the requisite number of credits for an educational increment must substantiate their degree status or actual credits by no later than fifteen (15) days prior to the beginning of the fiscal year during which payments are to be made. No payments shall be due prior to the beginning of the fiscal year immediately following the date upon which the above substantiation has been tendered to the Town. (h) Employees shall have the right to relinquish their eligibility for any additional remuneration set forth above in subsections (a) - (d) beyond their current status in return for receiving tuition reimbursement from the Town as detailed below.
