Flexing Work Time. The county may allow employees to modify their normal work hours within the workweek on an intermittent, temporary basis with prior supervisory approval, compatible with the operating needs of the county. Daily overtime and shift differentials will be waived to accommodate these requests. Prior approval means prior to the modification of an employee’s schedule. In the event of an unforeseen circumstance resulting in an employee starting a shift later than scheduled, the employee must immediately contact their supervisor and may request to flex their normal work schedule. If the request is compatible with operational needs, the supervisor may approve such a request and still meet the prior approval definition. This does not preclude management from taking appropriate action up to and including disciplinary action for any policy violations related to the employee starting a shift later than scheduled. Whenever a mandatory meeting falls on an employee’s regularly scheduled day off, the employee may be allowed to flex their normal work schedule within the same workweek with prior supervisory approval, compatible with the operating needs of the county.

Prior approval means prior to the modification of an employee’s schedule. In the event of an unforeseen circumstance resulting in an employee starting a shift later than scheduled, the employee must immediately contact their supervisor and may request to flex their normal work schedule. If the request is compatible with operational needs, the supervisor may approve such a request and still meet the prior approval definition. Related to Flexing Work Time

  • Work Time Work time is defined as all hours actually spent in pay status including travel time required by and at the direction of the Employer before, during or after the regularly-assigned workday.

  • Break Time For daily work assignments of six or more hours, permanent and probationary employees (except bus drivers and bus aides) shall be entitled to one 15-minute break for each half of the work assignment. For work assignments of less than six hours, such employees shall be entitled to one 15-minute break. Employees who spend a majority of the workday working with a Video Display Terminal (VDT) shall be permitted to perform other job-related duties (i.e., work not involving use of a VDT) 10 continuous minutes out of each hour. Such time shall not be cumulative and shall be in addition to break time established above.

  • Sick Time An employee shall have all of his/her accrued sick leave credits transferred when the employee is transferred to a different State agency.

  • Work Day The standard work day shall be eight (8) consecutive hours of work exclusive of a lunch period in a consecutive twenty-four (24) hour day.

  • Standard Work Week The standard work week for full-time employees covered by this Agreement shall be forty (40) hours, exclusive of the time allotted for meal periods, consisting of five (5) consecutive work days followed by two (2) consecutive days off. The week shall commence with the shift that includes 12:01 A.M. Sunday of each calendar week and end at the start of the shift that includes 12:00 midnight the following Saturday. The Employer retains the right to modify the work schedules to meet operational needs.

  • Work Day and Work Week The normal work day shall consist of up to 8 hours of work within a 24-hour period. The normal work week shall consist of up to 40 hours of work within a 7-day period. The Employer may define the work week on an individual, department, shift or facility basis in accordance with Federal and State law.

  • Start Date The parental leave must begin no later than 52 weeks after the day the child is born or comes into the custody, care and control of the parent for the first time for provincially or federally regulated employees. The parental leave of an employee who takes a pregnancy leave must begin when the pregnancy leave ends unless the child has not yet come into the care and control of the parent for the first time.

  • Boxing Day If another Federal, Provincial or Municipal holiday should be proclaimed during the term of this Agreement, such additional proclaimed holiday will replace one of the above-named holidays as agreed by the parties. The intent is that there will be no more than twelve (12) paid holidays per calendar year for the duration of this agreement.

  • Work Week The work week will begin at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday and end at 11:59 p.m. the following Saturday.

  • Holiday Falling on a Scheduled Workday An Employee who works on a designated holiday which is a scheduled workday shall be compensated at the rate of double time for hours worked, plus a day off in lieu of the holiday; except for Christmas and New Year's when the compensation shall be at the rate of double time and one-half (2½) for hours worked, plus a day off subject to this Agreement.
