High School Athletics. Step 1 Column 1 is used for multiplying the Responsibility Level (RL) percentage to determine the stipend amount. (In 2023-2024 Step 1 Column 1 is $49,390.) Longevity - Athletic coaches will be given a longevity multiplier for consecutive years of coaching in the same sport. Years 3-4 - Extra 1% of step 1 column 1 Years 5+ - Extra 2% of step 1 column 1 Any varsity coach required to spend additional time due to CIF extension of season will receive a $150.00 per week additional stipend. Each athletic stipend title below is one stipend to be paid for by the District, unless otherwise specified. If there is no team in a given year, the stipend will not be reallocated to another team or level. High School Athletics. General 7.7.4.3.1 The weekly compensation for all high school coaches will be determined by dividing the appropriate percentage of Class III, Step 8 on the salary schedule by 11 (average length of all sports seasons). All coaches will be paid for the recognized length of the season of the sport coached. 7.7.4.3.2 Three (3) or more days of practice/competition per week during spring or winter recess will be considered as one (1) week. 7.7.4.3.3 In CIF playoff competition, a week's pay will be received for each week the season is extended for team coaches in team sports (football, maximum of five) and for the individual coach in individual sports. 7.7.4.3.4 Coaches assigned to out-of-season practice will receive a maximum of three weeks of their normal weekly rate. 7.7.4.3.5 The High School Athletic Director, who may coach only one (1) sport each year, shall receive six percent (6%) of Class III, Step 8, per season of sport (fall, winter, spring). 7.7.4.3.6 The High School Athletic Trainer shall receive six percent (6%) per sport season (fall, winter, spring). The trainer may not be a coach at the same time.. 7.7.4.3.7 A minimum of one (1) coach will be provided for each CIF sport at each level in which the school participates. Additional coaches may be assigned when approved by the Chief Academic Officer or designee. 7.7.4.3.8 Coaches and Athletic Directors shall be eligible for mileage reimbursement for mileage pre-authorized by the site principal or her/his designee. 7.7.4.3.9 Each comprehensive high school shall be allocated $5,000 per site to pay for spring practice coaches in addition to football. School sites would have the flexibility to determine which sports would constitute Spring Practice Programs. 7.7.4.3.10 Coaches are guaranteed/entitled to a prep period and a coaching period at the high school level for any semester during which they are coaching.
