Holidays and School Breaks. The Superintendent shall receive the following holidays off without loss of pay or having to take a paid leave day: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Friday after, Christmas Day. When the school is closed for scheduled one day breaks on the school calendar, (Example: Fall Break, Wednesday of Thanksgiving Break, Monday after Easter, etc.) such days shall not also be considered working days for the purposes of vacation or sick leave. Though it is understood that duties may need to be performed on such days.

Holidays and School Breaks. When the Central Office or schools are closed for holidays or scheduled breaks on the school calendar (e.g., Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Semester Break, Christmas, etc.), such days shall not be considered a working day for purposes of use of vacation or sick leave. Weekend days shall also not be considered working days for purposes of use of vacation or sick leave, though it is understood that duties may need to be performed on such days. When school is closed for reason of inclement weather, the Superintendent is expected to be at work if practicable; if not practicable, absence on such a day shall not be considered a working day for purposes of use of vacation or sick leave.
Holidays and School Breaks. The Employee is entitled to be paid his/her daily rate for all days on which the School closes in observance of holidays and during winter and spring breaks. Other than these school observed holidays and school breaks, and the sick leave and personal days described in provision 4d, Employee is not entitled to any other paid time off. Note: vacation or school break pay only has value when it occurs during a calendar period(s) when the employee is eligible to take vacation time.

  • Holidays and Vacation A) Employee shall be paid for the following seven (7) holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day and all other holidays for Employees of the Company as approved by the Chief Executive Officer or Board of Directors.

In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on December 25 or January 1, respectively. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both December 25 and the following Monday, or for both January 1 and the following Monday. F. When Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on December 25 or January 1, respectively, as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on December 25 or January 1, respectively. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both December 25 and the Friday immediately preceding or for both January 1 and the Friday immediately preceding. G. Notwithstanding Sections 1.B through 1.F above, the County may designate holiday observances as follows: 1. When Xxxxxxx’s Birthday, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, the next day (Monday) shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on the actual holiday (rather than the observed holiday) as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on the actual holiday rather than the observed holiday. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both the actual holiday (occurring on Sunday) and the observed holiday (occurring on Monday). 2. When Xxxxxxx’s Birthday, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on the actual holiday (rather than the observed holiday) as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on the actual holiday rather than the observed holiday. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both the actual holiday (occurring on Saturday) and the observed holiday (occurring on the Friday immediately preceding). 3. Subsections 1 and 2 above will not be implemented unless the County implements the same holiday schedule for other recognized bargaining units (other than AOCDS).

  • LEAVE AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 38 Annual Leave 38.1 Employees (other than casuals) will be entitled to 4 weeks paid annual leave per annum, provided that Continuous Shiftworkers shall be entitled to one additional week’s paid annual leave. 38.2 An Employee’s entitlement to paid annual leave accrues progressively during a year of service according to the Employee’s ordinary hours of work, and accumulates from year to year. 38.3 The Employer must maintain a leave accrual system that accurately accrues annual leave progressively throughout the year in accordance with this Agreement. 38.4 Annual Leave is paid at the Ordinary Rate being paid to the Employee immediately prior to the taking of the Annual Leave, plus 17.5% loading. 38.5 Taking of Annual leave (a) Other than the Easter and Christmas Shutdown outlined in clause 38.7, the Employer and Employee shall seek to reach agreement on the taking of annual leave at a mutually convenient time. The Employer will not otherwise unreasonably refuse an Employee’s request to take annual leave. (b) The Employer cannot otherwise direct an Employee to take Annual Leave unless the Employer directs an Employee to take excessive accrued Annual Leave in accordance with clauses 38.6 – 38.8 of the Award.

  • Holidays A. The following shall be observed as paid holidays: New Year's Day, January 1 Labor Day Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx'x Birthday Columbus Day* President’s Day Veterans' Day * Good Friday* Thanksgiving Day Memorial Day Day after Thanksgiving July 4th Christmas Day, December 25 * These days are not paid holidays and are considered regular workdays for employees assigned to Xxxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx. B. When a holiday falls on a regular day off, for employees scheduled to work a five (5) day operation, the holiday shall be celebrated on a regular workday to be scheduled by the Town. For employees scheduled to work a seven (7) day operation, the holiday shall be celebrated on a regular workday to be selected by the employee, with the approval of the department head; the workday selected need not be uniform. C. If an employee shall be required to work on a holiday, the employee shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1 1/2) times his/her regular straight time hourly rate for such work. D. Permanent, part time employees shall be entitled to the holidays of this Article and shall receive as holiday pay an amount prorated on the basis of the average fraction of the standard workweek worked during the past fiscal year. E. If an employee is absent from work for any part of the last scheduled work day before or the first scheduled work day after the day on which a holiday is observed pursuant to the terms of this Article, such employee shall receive holiday pay provided such absence is for an authorized or excused reason such as, but not limited to, illness, accident, vacation, personal leave day, bereavement leave day, or extreme weather conditions. It is understood that such authorized or excused absence need not be with pay in order for the employee to be eligible for the holiday pay. F. Subject to prior mutual written agreement between the Town and the Association, a schedule for holiday observances which differs from the days indicated in A may be established for employees of the Greenwich Library and Greenwich Board of Education, provided that the number of paid holidays is equal to the number of holidays set forth in A. In the event no agreement is reached for such change, the holiday schedule set forth in A shall control. Notwithstanding the above, in the event Board of Education determines to include Columbus Day and/or Veterans’ Day as a regular school day, such day(s) shall become part of the regular work week and the premium pay as set forth in paragraph C of this Article shall not apply. In such event each employee affected by the change shall be granted a floating holiday for Columbus Day and Veterans’ Day as each may be discontinued at the discretion of the Board of Education. The floating holidays shall be used during the school year. An employee wishing to use such floating holiday shall provide the Board with advance notice and the Board shall not unreasonably deny, condition or withhold the employee’s ability to utilize the floating holiday on a date of the employee’s choosing.

  • Religious Holidays When a religious holiday, not observed as a holiday, as provided in Section 2 above, falls on a supervisor's regularly scheduled work day, the supervisor shall be entitled to that day off to observe the religious holiday. Time to observe religious holidays shall be taken without pay except where the supervisor has sufficient accumulated vacation leave or accumulated compensatory time, or, by mutual consent, is able to make the time up. Supervisors shall notify the Appointing Authority at least twenty-eight (28) calendar days prior to the leave.

  • Vacation, Holidays and Sick Leave During the Term, the Executive shall be entitled to paid vacation, paid holidays and sick leave in accordance with the Company's standard policies for its senior executive officers.

  • Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday. (b) When the employee is scheduled off on a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule the employee off the paid holiday. (c) In the event of a scheduling conflict, 12.07 (a) will be the deciding provision.

  • Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays If the last or appointed day for the taking of any action or the expiration of any right required or granted herein shall be a Saturday, Sunday or U.S. federal holiday, then such action may be taken or such right may be exercised on the next succeeding day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or U.S. federal holiday.
