Hour Work Period. Except as may be otherwise provided, the official work week shall be 40 hours of work in any 7 consecutive calendar days. However, the Department Head may establish work week schedules which differ from the normal schedule above, upon recommendation of the Human Resources Director and approval of the County Administrator. It shall be the duty of the Department Head to arrange the work of his/her department so that each employee therein shall work not more than 40 hours in any work week except that the Department Head may require any employee of his/her department to temporarily perform service in excess of 40 hours when public necessity or convenience so require.
