INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Locate facilities where they will serve Project adequately and result in minimum interference with performance of the Work. Relocate and modify facilities as required by progress of the Work.
1. Locate facilities to limit site disturbance as specified in Division 01 Section "Summary."
B. Provide each facility ready for use when needed to avoid delay. Do not remove until facilities are no longer needed or are replaced by authorized use of completed permanent facilities.
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Conceal cables in finished walls, ceilings, and floors unless otherwise indicated.
B. Complete raceway installation between conductor and cable termination points according to Section 260533 "Raceways and Boxes for Electrical Systems" prior to pulling conductors and cables.
C. Use manufacturer-approved pulling compound or lubricant where necessary; compound used must not deteriorate conductor or insulation. Do not exceed manufacturer's recommended maximum pulling tensions and sidewall pressure values.
D. Use pulling means, including fish tape, cable, rope, and basket-weave wire/cable grips, that will not damage cables or raceway.
E. Install exposed cables parallel and perpendicular to surfaces of exposed structural members and follow surface contours where possible.
F. Support cables according to Section 260529 "Hangers and Supports for Electrical Systems."
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Cold-formed metal framing may be shop or field fabricated for installation, or it may be field assembled.
B. Install cold-formed metal framing according to AISI's "Standard for Cold-Formed Steel Framing - General Provisions" and to manufacturer's written instructions unless more stringent requirements are indicated.
C. Install cold-formed metal framing and accessories plumb, square, and true to line, and with connections securely fastened.
1. Cut framing members by sawing or shearing; do not torch cut.
2. Fasten cold-formed metal framing members by screw fastening, clinch fastening, or riveting. Wire tying of framing members is not permitted.
a. Locate mechanical fasteners and install according to Shop Drawings, and complying with requirements for spacing, edge distances, and screw penetration.
D. Do not bridge building expansion and control joints with cold-formed metal framing. Independently frame both sides of joints.
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. 6.1 Prior to the commencement of installation, the Council appointed representative shall arrange to meet the Contractor on site in order to confirm the relevant details indicated in the following clauses.
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Comply with insulation manufacturer's written instructions applicable to products and applications indicated.
B. Install insulation that is undamaged, dry, and unsoiled and that has not been left exposed to ice, rain, or snow at any time.
C. Extend insulation to envelop entire area to be insulated. Cut and fit tightly around obstructions and fill voids with insulation. Remove projections that interfere with placement.
D. Provide sizes to fit applications indicated and selected from manufacturer's standard thicknesses, widths, and lengths. Apply single layer of insulation units to produce thickness indicated unless multiple layers are otherwise shown or required to make up total thickness.
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Coordinate placement of doors with the work of other trades.
B. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions for installing all access doors and hatches.
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Cut masonry units with saw. Install with cut surfaces and, where possible, cut edges concealed.
B. Matching Existing Masonry: Match coursing, bonding, color, and texture of existing masonry.
C. Stopping and Resuming Work: Step back units; do not tooth.
D. Fill cores in hollow concrete masonry units with grout 24 inches under bearing plates, beams, lintels, posts, and similar items unless otherwise indicated.
E. Keep cavities clean of mortar droppings and other materials during construction.
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Discard units of material with defects that impair quality of rough carpentry and that are too small to use with minimum number of joints or optimum joint arrangement.
B. Set rough carpentry to required levels and lines, with members plumb, true to line, cut, and fitted.
C. Fit rough carpentry to other construction; scribe and cope as required for accurate fit. Correlate location of furring, nailers, blocking, grounds, and similar supports to allow attachment of other construction.
D. Apply field treatment complying with AWPA M4 to cut surfaces of preservative-treated lumber and plywood.
E. Securely attach rough carpentry work to substrate by anchoring and fastening as indicated, complying with the following:
1. CABO NER-272 for power-driven staples, P-nails, and allied fasteners.
2. Published requirements of metal framing anchor manufacturer.
3. Recommended Nailing Schedule" of referenced framing standard and with AFPA's "National Design Specifications for Wood Construction."
4. Table 2305.2--Fastening Schedule" of the BOCA National Building Code.
F. Use common wire nails, unless otherwise indicated. Use finishing nails for finish work. Select fasteners of size that will not fully penetrate members where opposite side will be exposed to view or will receive finish materials. Make tight connections between members. Install fasteners without splitting wood; predrill as required.
G. Use hot-dip galvanized or stainless-steel nails where rough carpentry is exposed to weather, in ground contact, or in area of high relative humidity.
H. Countersink nail heads on exposed carpentry work and fill holes with wood filler.
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Do not use materials with defects that impair quality of sheathing or pieces that are too small to use with minimum number of joints or optimum joint arrangement. Arrange joints so that pieces do not span between fewer than three support members.
B. Cut panels at penetrations, edges, and other obstructions of work; fit tightly against abutting construction unless otherwise indicated.
C. Securely attach to substrate by fastening as indicated, complying with the following:
INSTALLATION, GENERAL. A. Do not use unit pavers with chips, cracks, voids, discolorations, and other defects that might be visible or cause staining in finished work.
B. Mix pavers from several pallets or cubes as they are placed to produce uniform blend of colors and textures.
C. Cut unit pavers with motor-driven masonry saw equipment to provide clean, sharp, unchipped edges. Cut units to provide pattern indicated and to fit adjoining work neatly. Use full units without cutting where possible. Hammer cutting is not acceptable.
