Loss of Seniority- The seniority rights of an employee shall be lost upon resignation, discharge or retirement from the District or the bargaining unit. Seniority will not accrue when an employee is on a leave without pay status for three (3) consecutive months; provided, that seniority shall not be affected for leaves without pay due to 1) an on-the-job injury or 2) when the employee is on leave without pay because they have exhausted paid leave for an absence caused by their own personal illness. This language will govern seniority, except as provided in 13.2, Route Determination and 13.5, Route Bidding.
