- LUNCH PERIOD AND REST BREAKS. A. Employees who are in a pay status during their lunch are on call during their lunch period. Employees who are not in a pay status during their lunch are on their own time during their lunch period. B. Employees shall be entitled to a rest break for each four (4) hours of work. Scheduling of rest breaks shall be determined by management. C. The Department head or his or her designee shall schedule each field Probation Officer for a regular one hour or a one-half hour unpaid meal period, taking into consideration the employee’s preference and operational needs. The meal period shall be taken as near the middle of the employee’s workday as is practicable in light of operational needs. If an employee desires to change the scheduled meal period from one hour to one half hour or from one-half hour to one hour, such change shall take effect only if approved in advance by the Department Head or his or her designee. The Department Head or his or her designee may initiate such a change on an on-going basis when, in the Department’s judgment, such is needed for operational reasons. The Department Head or his or her designee may also temporarily alter the duration of the employee’s regularly scheduled meal period, from one hour to one-half hour or from one-half hour to one hour, to accommodate temporary operational needs (e.g. training, etc.).

- LUNCH PERIOD AND REST BREAKS. 15.01 All departments shall be entitled to two (2) paid fifteen-minute rest periods per day in addition to one unpaid thirty (30) minute lunch break in an eight (8) hour shift. If an employee works more than eight (8) hours, breaks will be provided in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of Ontario. 15.02 If the overtime to be worked is in excess of three hours duration, employees who agree or are mandated to work an extended shift after commencing work shall receive a five (5) dollar meal allowance to be provided as soon as possible following the completion of his regular shift.

  • MEAL PERIODS AND REST BREAKS 4.1 Except when required for urgent or emergency work and except as provided in 4.2 no employee shall be required to work for more than five hours continuously without being allowed a meal break of not less than half an hour. 4.2 An employee unable to be relieved from work for a meal break shall be allowed to have a meal on duty and this period shall be regarded as working time. 4.3 Except where provided for in 4.2 an employee unable to take a meal after five hours’ duty shall be paid at overtime rates from the expiry of five hours until the time when a meal can be taken. 4.4 During the meal break or rest breaks prescribed above, free tea, coffee, milk and sugar shall be supplied by the employer. Where it is impractical to supply tea, coffee, milk and sugar free of charge, an allowance of $1.48 per week in lieu shall be paid. This allowance shall continue during all periods of leave except leave without pay. 4.5 Rest breaks of 10 minutes each for morning tea, afternoon tea or supper, where these occur during duty, shall be allowed as time worked.

  • Lunch Period Employees who work five (5) hours or more shall be granted a thirty (30) minute, duty-free, uninterrupted lunch period, which may or may not be during the normal lunch hours.

  • Meal and Rest Breaks (a) The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to organize the work assignment on a shift in such a way as to allow each Nurse to have designated meal and rest break(s) at regular intervals during the shifts. (b) The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that no Nurse will work longer than five (5) consecutive hours without a break, unless mutually agreed between the Nurse and the Employer. (c) Nurses shall be permitted to combine meal and/or rest break(s) where operationally possible. (d) Operational requirements may require that Nurses remain on the nursing unit or within the facility for their designated meal and rest break(s). (e) Where operational requirements prevent a Nurse from having an uninterrupted meal or rest break(s) and it is not possible to reschedule the missed break(s) or a portion of the break(s) during the remainder of the shift, the Nurse shall be compensated for the portion of the missed meal period or rest period, at a rate of one and one-half times (1.5x) the Nurse’s hourly rate for the period of the rest and meal break(s) missed.

  • Lunch and Rest Periods ‌ A. Each employee working more than four (4) hours per day shall be entitled to a minimum of one-half (1/2) hour duty free lunch period without pay. B. Employees shall receive a fifteen (15) minute rest period during each four (4) hours of work not to exceed two (2) such breaks during a regular eight (8) hour day, whenever practicable. C. The parties agree to comply with ODE regulations.

  • Duty-Free Lunch Period All teachers shall be entitled to a thirty-five (35) minute duty free lunch period.

  • Lunch Break Each Teacher shall receive each day an uninterrupted and continuous period of not less than forty (40) minutes for lunch, free from supervisory, teaching or other assigned duties (reference: Regulation 298.s. 3, Daily Sessions).

  • Lunch Periods All employees covered by this Agreement shall be entitled to an uninterrupted, duty-free lunch period after the employee has been on duty for five (5) hours. The length of time for such lunch period shall be for no less than one-half (½) hour, and shall be scheduled for full-time employees at about the midpoint of each work shift. Such times shall be mutually agreed upon between employees and their immediate supervisor.

  • Contract Period and Renewal The Contract is effective on the signature date of the latter of the Parties to sign this agreement and terminates on March 15, 2021, unless renewed, extended, or terminated pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Contract. The Parties may extend this Contract subject to mutually agreeable terms and conditions.

  • Meal Breaks and Rest Periods On completion of not less than three hours work after commencement time or on completion of not less than two hours work after the meal break weekly Employees will become entitled to a rest period of ten minutes duration. Such rest period for pay purposes will be treated as time worked.

  • Rest Break (a) An employee working overtime must be allowed a rest break of 20 minutes without deduction of pay after each four hours of overtime worked if the employee is to continue work after the rest break. (b) Where a day worker is required to work overtime on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday or on a rostered day off, the first rest break will be paid at the employee's ordinary rate of pay.
