Notice of Layoff or Reduction. 19.2.1 The District shall send written notice of layoff or reduction to the affected unit member(s) not later than March 15th of each school year, informing each affected unit member of the unit member’s displacement rights, if any, and reemployment rights. Any notice of layoff or reduction shall indicate the reason(s) for such action. The District shall also inform the CSEA Chapter President of any layoffs or reductions prior to, when possible, but in no case later than the adoption of the resolution by the Board of Trustees.

The District shall also inform the CSEA Chapter President of any layoffs or reductions prior to, when possible, but in no case later than the issuance of notice to the affected unit member(s).

Any notice of layoff or reduction shall indicate the reason(s) for such action. The District shall also inform the CSEA Chapter President of any layoffs or reductions prior to, when possible, but in no case later than the issuance of notice to the affected unit member(s). In accordance with Education Code §45117, when as a result of the expiration of a specially funded program, classified unit positions are going to be eliminated at the end of the school year, and unit member(s) will be subject to layoff for lack of funds, the unit member(s) to be laid off at the end of such year shall be given written notice on or before April 29. If the termination date of any specially funded program is other than June 30, such notice shall be given not less than forty-five (45) days prior to the effective date of layoff.

  • Demotion in Lieu of Layoff The appointing authority shall determine by class, subject to review by the Director, whether demotion shall be afforded employees as an option in lieu of layoff. At the request of the appointing authority, a permanent employee shall, in lieu of layoff, be afforded the option of demotion within the same department to a position in a lower class, provided that no such demotion shall in turn require the layoff or demotion from such lower class of any employee whose layoff rating is at least as high as that of the demoting employee. A probationary employee may be afforded the opportunity to accept a demotion within the same department to a position in a lower class provided no such demotion shall in turn require the layoff of any employee in the lower class. Such probationer shall not become permanent in the lower class by this action except by completing a new full probation period in such lower class.
