Nuclear Safety. 1. The aim of cooperation is to provide for a safer use of nuclear energy.
2. Cooperation in the nuclear field shall mainly cover the following topics: - research and protective measures to increase safety particularly of the tailings at the uranium ore processing plant at Sillamäe, and at the former Soviet nuclear submarine training centre at Paldiski, - staff training, - upgrading of Estonia's laws and regulations on nuclear safety and strengthening of the supervisory authorities and their resources, - nuclear safety, preparation for nuclear emergencies and accident management, - radiation protection, including environmental radiation monitoring, - fuel cycle problems, safeguarding and physical protection of nuclear materials, - radioactive waste management, - decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear installations, - decontamination, - establishment of uniform safety standards to protect the health of workers, the general public and the environment and ensuring that they are applied.
3. Cooperation will include the exchange of information and experience and R & D activities in accordance with the provisions on science and technology.
4. The Parties agree on the necessity of making efforts to cooperate, within the framework of their respective powers and competences, in order to combat nuclear smuggling. Cooperation in this area should include exchange of information, technical support for analysing, identifying and disposing of the material, and administrative and technical assistance for the installation of efficient customs controls. Further cooperation in this field could be identified as need arises.
Nuclear Safety. The Parties shall cooperate in the field of nuclear safety and safeguards. Cooperation could cover the following topics:
(a) upgrading the laws and regulations of the Parties on radiation protection, nuclear safety and nuclear materials accountancy and control as well as strengthening the supervisory authorities and their resources;
(b) encouraging the promotion of Agreements between Member States, or European Atomic Energy Community and Serbia on early notification and exchange of information in cases of nuclear accidents and on emergency preparedness and on nuclear safety issues in general, if appropriate;
(c) nuclear third party liability.
Nuclear Safety. The Contractor promotes a culture that is dedicated to continuously striving to enhance nuclear safety. The Employer defines appropriate safety objectives for the KOU, and the Contractor is also responsible for meeting those objectives, instilling a philosophy of personal excellence, and timely identification and resolution of safety problems. The Contractor is responsible for continuously pursuing enhancements to safety-not just complying with a minimal set of legal requirements.
Nuclear Safety. 1. The Community and the United Kingdom are parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety, done at Vienna on 17 June 1994, and which entered into force on 24 October 1996 (IAEA INFCIRC/449), the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management, done at Vienna on 5 September 1997, and which entered into force on 18 June 2001 (IAEA INFCIRC/546), the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency, done at Vienna on 26 September 1986, and which entered into force on 26 February 1987 (IAEA INFCIRC/336) and the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident, done at Vienna on 26 September 1986, and which entered into force on 27 October 1986 (IAEA INFCIRC/335). Any amendment to any of the aforementioned Conventions applies to this Agreement unless a Party has notified the other Party in writing that it does not accept the amendment. The Community, its Member States and the United Kingdom have approved the Vienna Declaration on Nuclear Safety adopted on 9 February 2015 (IAEA INFCIRC/872).
2. The Parties acknowledge the importance of international cooperation for effective nuclear safety arrangements and, recognising both Parties' leadership in this field, shall work together on the continuous improvement of international nuclear safety standards and Conventions, and of their implementation.
3. Recognising the principle of continuous improvement of nuclear safety and the right of each Party to implement nuclear safety standards, and insofar as it does not conflict with developments in legally binding international nuclear safety standards, each Party shall not weaken or reduce the levels of protection below those provided for by the standards of protection, and by the enforcement thereof, shared by the Parties at the end of the transition period in relation to nuclear safety, radiation protection, safe management of radioactive waste and spent fuel, decommissioning, safe shipment of nuclear material, and emergency preparedness and response.
4. The Parties shall continue to cooperate, maintain regular contacts and share information on matters relevant to nuclear safety, radiation protection, emergency preparedness and response and management of spent fuel and radioactive waste, including the results of international peer reviews, where appropriate.

Nuclear Safety. The provisions of the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS-IAEA document INFCIRC/449), which has to be implemented including the principles of the Vienna Declaration on Nuclear Safety (IAEA: CNS/DC/2015/2/Rev.1 document INFCIRC/872) and to which India, the Community and its Member States are parties, shall apply. No additional obligations to those assumed under the CNS on the Parties and the Community and its Member States shall arise.
