Other Paid Educational Leave. After 12 months of continuous employment with the Hospital, employees will be allowed up to three days’ (24 hours) paid educational leave at the employee’s regular rate of pay, but such leave is subject to budgetary limitations and scheduling requirements of the Hospital and approval of the manager and/or appropriate executive of the subject matter to be studied, and will be granted only for courses related to the disciplines in which the employees work. An additional three days (24 hours) paid educational leave may be granted subject to the above requirements. Educational leave may be used on an hour-by-hour basis. The Employer will pay reasonable expenses for travel, lodging, meals and transportation when the Employer requires an employee to attend an off-site educational program specified by the Employer. Such educational leave addressed above is non-cumulative.

An additional three days’ (24 hours) paid educational leave may be granted subject to the above requirements. Educational leave may be used on an hour-by-hour basis. Nurses may be required to give an oral or written report on the content of the educational offering if other Employees, the manager or the Director of Education expresses interest. The Employer will pay reasonable expenses for travel, lodging, meals, and transportation when the Employer requires an employee to attend an off-site educational program specified by the Employer. Utilization of paid educational leave for mandatory in-service education will be by mutual agreement only. Such educational leave addressed above is non-cumulative.

An employee may request special paid leave at straight-time hourly rate which may be granted employees for educational purposes which will benefit the State by adding to or strengthening employee skills or knowledge and to allow employees to attend approved conferences, professional meetings and workshops.

  • Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence 1. Any employee may apply for an unpaid personal leave of absence for good and sufficient reason. Leave pursuant to this provision may be for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months in any fourteen (14) consecutive months. Such leave may be granted at the discretion of the appointing authority and shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees are encouraged to consult with their agency/department Personnel Officer to determine if they are eligible for benefits available under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. All requests for such leave and responses shall be in writing. The application for leave must specifically state the reasons for such application and the length of time requested. After completion of a period of personal leave of absence, the employee shall be entitled to return to the organizational unit, status and position held immediately prior to the beginning of the leave of absence. If the employee's position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority Article of this Agreement.

  • Additional Leaves Should an employee require additional time to care for a gravely ill family member, additional leaves may be granted beyond the eight (8) week period specified above. Such additional leave shall be pursuant to Article 13.02

  • Additional Leave Any further leave granted beyond the normal thirty-seven (37) week period, or the forty-two (42) week period for special circumstances, will be unpaid leave without benefits.
