Overtime Assignments. Non-emergency overtime shall be distributed fairly and equitably, on a rotating basis, within a class, section in the Police Department, and department. In order to accomplish the fair and equitable rotation of overtime distribution, a seniority list, in order of departmental seniority, shall be established for each class within each department. An employee must indicate in writing his willingness to perform overtime work in order to be placed on the appropriate list. Separate Seniority Lists for overtime assignments will be maintained on a Yearly Rotating basis; one for Saturday and one for Sunday/Holiday. Overtime work that is created as a result of an absent employee will be assigned in accordance with the above paragraph if the absence is known about before the start of the last two hours of the shift, otherwise the junior qualified employee(s) will be assigned to work. Such employee(s) will be allowed to secure a qualified volunteer to work in his place. Forms will be provided for handling this provision in an orderly fashion. Notices of scheduled foreseen weekday overtime must be given at least one day before on the shift it’s to be worked. The work notice for foreseen weekend overtime work must be given by on the Thursday prior to the weekend. When possible, the Company will let the employees know on Wednesday. The work notice for any unforeseen overtime will be given as soon as the Company becomes aware of the need to work overtime. For any scheduled overtime, employees will be allowed to secure a qualified volunteer to work in his place by using the replacementform. All employees will be required to work overtime as required by the Company. No employee will be required to work in excess of hours, with the exception of the maintenance department as prescribed in the EmploymentStandards Act. Hours worked beyond eight (8) in a work day or forty (40) in a work week will be paid at time and one half the employee’s regular straight time hourly rate. Hours worked on Saturday will be paid at time and one half the employee's straight time hourly rate. This will not apply for hours worked on a Saturday during a shift that began on the preceding Friday. Hours worked on a Sunday, unless they are the regular starting or ending of an employee's shift will be paid at double the employee's regular straight time hourly rate. Hours worked on a paid holiday, unless they are the start or the end of a shift before or after the holiday, will be paid at double the employee's straight time hourly rate plus the holiday pay.
