PERS Sick Leave Option. The PERS plan includes the credit for unused sick leave option upon retirement. In addition, employees with at least a year of service and unused sick leave are eligible for the COUNTY sick leave incentive program at either termination or retirement. Employees may not participate in both programs.

PERS Sick Leave Option. Unused sick leave benefits shall be converted for retirement credit as provided for in Section 20862.8 of the Public Employee's Retirement Law. Current options provide that unused sick leave benefits shall convert to years of service at a rate of two hundred fifty (250) days of sick leave benefits for one (1) year of service. For purposes of calculations, sick leave shall first be converted to equivalent eight (8) hour days as shown in the example below.

  • Annual Paid Sick Leave Fifteen (15) days sick leave per year shall be earned by an employee at the rate of 1.25 days for every month that an employee is employed.

  • Sick Leave Buyback The Board agrees to buy sick leave days back from those teachers who have more than one hundred (100) accumulated sick leave days at the end of a school year. The value of each unused day will be determined based on the formula in Section A above. The total amount calculated will be deposited into the teacher’s Section 401(a) account. If a teacher has in excess of 6 personal days, the days will be transferred to the total sick day accumulation for this calculation. The number of days will be figured using the above chart in this section.
