Sick Leave Option a. “Catastrophic illness or injury” is defined as a critical medical condition considered to be terminal, or a long-term major physical impairment or disability. b. A sick leave donation program is established to assist employees who suffer a catastrophic illness or injury not job related or whose spouse, son, daughter, mother or father suffers a catastrophic illness or injury necessitating the employee to be absent from work, when the employee will exhaust all other available paid leave. This program neither supersedes nor replaces other disability programs. c. If an employee desires to make use of the sick leave donation program and the conditions below are met, then the employee may request through the Association that sick leave days be transferred from other bargaining unit members’ accumulated sick leave to the employee. The Association shall notify the Treasurer of the Board, in writing, of the number of days to be deducted, from whom, for what dates, and the person receiving the transferred days. Included in the notice shall be a signed statement by the employee(s) involved authorizing the Board Treasurer to transfer the days. d. The sick leave donation program can be utilized by an employee only if all of the following conditions are met: i. A doctor certifies in writing that a catastrophic injury or illness exists. Upon receipt of the doctor’s certification, the Superintendent will determine the eligibility for the sick leave donation program. Examples of a long-term injury or illness include cancer or a paralyzing ski accident. Examples of injuries or illnesses that would not be considered include pregnancy (with or without complications) or a broken bone. ii. The injury or long-term illness must require the employee to take at least 20 days off. iii. The employee must have worked for the Board for at least one school year. iv. All sick leave donations must be voluntary. v. Donations from an employee must be in units of one (1) day. vi. If the illness or injury is expected to last longer than 40 days, the employee shall apply for disability retirement, and if such disability retirement is granted, sick leave usage shall cease . vii. Unless otherwise approved by the Superintendent and the Board of Education, no more than thirty (30) days total sick leave can be donated. viii. Unless otherwise approved by the Superintendent, no more than five (5) days total sick leave can be donated by an individual bargaining unit member, and no bargaining unit m...
Sick Leave Option. Notwithstanding Article 27.4, a Teacher who is not eligible for E.I. benefits may request sick leave for up to the first thirty (30) days from the date of delivery if such Teacher has at least thirty (30) days of accumulated sick leave to her credit.

Sick Leave Option. Employees have the option to donate their sick time to another employee who has incurred a prolonged illness or injury. Members on Workers Compensation shall not be eligible for donated sick time. Applications for sick bank coverage are to be submitted for review to a special committee, comprised of three (3) members selected by the Marseilles ESP Association IEA-NEA and two (2) members selected by the Superintendent or his/her designee. Applications shall state the cause for the absence and expected dates of the leave. The application shall be accompanied by a note from the attending physician which clearly confirms the illness and expected recovery period. The committee may demand a second evaluation by another physician before determining the status of the application. The committee shall be responsible for authenticating the claim of illness or injury as well as ascertaining the eligibility of the members to draw on the bank. The committee shall make recommendations to the Board of Education regarding sick bank applications. The decision of the Board of Education shall be final and not subject to the grievance procedure. The bank shall be administered by the committee.
Sick Leave Option. For the term of this collective bargaining agreement, a Sick Leave Option is extended to existing Detectives cun•ently on the payroll.   • Sick Leave Incentive The City will institute a sick leave incentive based on the usage of the bargaining unit; further, the City will pay each person who qualifies during January of each year. The incentive will be calculated and monitored by the Personnel Department and will be based on the pay periods during a calendar year. The incentive shall be awarded only when the bargaining unit's average sick leave usage is less than the City average and the following conditions are met: When the bargaining unit's sick leave usage is greater than forty (40) hours but less than the City average, the City will pay each member using between zero (0) and sixteen (16) hours of sick leave, eight (8) hours pay and any member using more than sixteen (16) but equal to or less than twenty-four (24) hours, four (4) hours pay. When the bargaining unit's average sick leave usage is equal to or less than forty (40) hours, the City will pay each member who used between zero (0) and sixteen (16) hours, sixteen (16) hours of pay at their current hourly rate. Those members who used more than sixteen (16) but equal to or less than twenty-four (24) hours, will receive eight (8) hours of pay.

  • Sick Leave Plan The benefits of the Company’s Sick Leave Plan shall be considered as part of this Agreement. However, it is recognized that its provisions are not an automatic right of an employee and the administration of this plan and all decisions regarding the appropriateness or degree of its application shall be vested solely in the Company. The Company’s Sick Leave Plan will provide that probationary and regular employees will commence with a credit of eight days at 100 percent (100%) and 15 days at 75 percent (75%) pay, payable from the first day of sickness. This credit will continue to be available until the employee attains his/her first annual accumulation date as a regular employee. At the time of this accumulation date and each subsequent accumulation date he/she will acquire additional credits of eight days at 100 percent (100%) pay and 15 days at 75 percent (75%) pay. The accumulation of credits will be subject to the provisions of the Company’s Sick Leave Plan. Regular part-time employees shall receive a pro-rated number of sick days. When a regular part-time employee is absent due to illness on a scheduled day of work, they shall be paid for the hours of work scheduled for that day provided sick leave credits are available. Normally employees will be expected to arrange routine medical or dental appointments during non-working hours. Where such appointments cannot be arranged during non-working hours and the employee can be released from his/her duties, then the time shall be charged against an employee's sick leave time except in the case of medical appointments of less than half a day where normal earnings will be maintained. Employees who are on sick leave for 30 days or more may be eligible to participate in a vocational rehabilitation program in accordance with the Company’s policy. All major medical absence forms will be completed for any absence of four (4) continuous days/shifts or more or when requested by management. The Company will compensate the employee for the cost associated with completing these forms up to a maximum of $30.00. Additionally, the company will compensate the employee for the full cost of all medical notes, medical forms or medical information required to support LTD or other Wellness programs. This provision applies to Doctor’s notes requested by Line Management as part of the administration of the sick leave plan. Employees will be required to submit all forms required by management through their personal physician. Sick Leave benefits are conditional upon receipt of these forms and it is the responsibility of the employee to ensure that the employer receives these forms within a reasonable period of time. Any discipline related to sick leave that is imposed and grieved by the union will be referred directly to Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx for resolution.

  • Sick Leave Buy Back To encourage and reward employees who maintain good job attendance, the parties agree to the following incentive award: Employees who utilize two (2) sick leave days or less each assigned school calendar year and year-round employees who utilize three (3) sick leave days or less during each assigned school calendar year - upon request – shall receive payment for up to eight (8) days of sick leave, provided the employee worked the full assigned calendar year.* The following procedures apply to the payment of sick leave under this section. 1. An employee must have a minimum of twenty-five (25) days of accumulated sick leave remaining after the payment for unused sick leave under this section. 2. The payment of this incentive shall be paid to eligible employees no later than October 31st of the school year following the school year in which the employee qualified for the incentive pay. 3. For purposes of this section, sick leave shall be defined pursuant to all sections of F.S.1012.61. 4. Days for which such award payment is received shall be deducted from the accumulated leave balance. 5. Payment shall be equal to the number of eligible days times the affected employees daily rate of base pay times eighty percent (80%).

  • Sick Leave Bonus ‌ For every six (6) months of perfect sick leave attendance after July 1, 1987, the employee will receive eight (8) hours of bonus time. This bonus time will be prorated for part-time employees. Such bonus time can be used for any leave purpose covered by this Agreement. Such bonus time shall be counted as vacation leave credits for purposes of determining eligibility for carry- over and cash payments.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Employee Options A regular employee who is subject to displacement shall have the right to select one of the following options. Upon written presentation of the options, the employee shall have 3 full working days to select an option. This time limit may be extended by the mutual agreement of the Parties: (a) accept training, if applicable; or (b) accept placement in a vacant position, either within or outside the bargaining unit, in accordance with the provisions of this Article; or (c) exercise the bumping rights referred to in this Article; or (d) accept layoff, retaining the right to recall and to severance pay in accordance with this Agreement; or (e) accept severance in accordance with Article 9.03 of this Agreement.

  • Sick Leave During Leave of Absence (F/T) When an Employee is given leave of absence without pay for any reason, or is laid off on account of lack of work, he/she shall not continue to accumulate sick leave and shall not be entitled to receive pay for sickness for the period of such absence, but shall retain his/her cumulative credit, if any, existing at the time of such leave or lay-off.

  • Vacation; Sick Leave During the Employment Term, the Executive shall be entitled to not less than four (4) weeks of vacation during each calendar year and sick leave in accordance with the Company’s policies and practices with respect to its executives.

  • Sick Leave 1. Employees will be granted one (1) day for each month of their contract year. Employees hired prior to July 1, 1997: Employee will be paid for unused sick days in the following manner: a. Payment for unused sick days will be made to the employee upon that employee’s early or full service retirement or, upon the employee’s death, to the employee’s estate. Employees eligible for early or full service retirement who resign from employment and do not receive a retirement benefit, shall forfeit all rights to payment for unused sick days. b. Employees, who have a balance of less than 250 unused sick days as of June 30, 2002, will receive payment for 50% of the employee’s accumulated unused sick days up to a maximum of 250 unused days at their average daily rate*. c. Employees who have a balance of unused sick days greater then 250 days as of June 30, 2002, will receive payment for 50% of the employee’s accumulated unused sick days up to their June 30, 2002, unused sick leave balance, at their average daily rate*. d. Payments for unused sick days in amounts greater than $5,000 will be paid in equal amounts over five consecutive years beginning with the year of retirement. e. Payments for unused sick days in the amount at $5,000 or less or for the death of an employee will be paid in a lump sum to the employee or the employee’s estate in the year of retirement or death.

  • Vacation Leave on Retirement ‌ An employee scheduled to retire and to receive pension benefits under the Public Service Pension Plan Rules or who has reached the mandatory retiring age, shall be granted full vacation entitlement for the final calendar year of service.
