Promotion to Associate Professor. A. When an Assistant Professor is transferred to the tenured faculty, they are promoted at the same time to the rank of Associate Professor.
B. When a salary increment is associated with promotion to Associate Professor, the salary increment will be awarded as of September 1 of the academic year following the pre-tenure faculty member successfully completing their probationary period, even if the decision is rendered at a later date. However, the use of the designation of Associate Professor is effective on the date that the promotion decision is communicated to them.
Promotion to Associate Professor. All service in the current rank including prior service, if applicable, or the most recent seven (7) sequential years, whichever is less.
Promotion to Associate Professor. Promotion to the rank of Associate Professor shall be with tenure.
Promotion to Associate Professor. 1. The formal application for promotion to Associate Professor occurs in the fall semester when the candidate submits his/her full application file. The notification of intent to apply, made in the previous spring semester, does not constitute the formal application.
Promotion to Associate Professor. Tenured Members at the rank of Assistant Professor are eligible to apply for promotion to Associate Professor in the same year they apply for tenure or in any year after attaining tenure. In the year the Member intends to apply for promotion, the Member will give written notification to the Xxxx by March 31 of the Member’s intent to apply for promotion to Associate Professor. The criteria for promotion to Associate Professor are found in Article 26.18.
Promotion to Associate Professor. 10.2.3.1 In addition to the requirements for Assistant Professor, the rank of Associate Professor normally requires a demonstrated record of:
10.2.3.1.1 Effective teaching at all levels available to the Member;
10.2.3.1.2 Sustained, productive scholarly activity, including work assessed by peer review, that goes beyond fulfillment of the requirements of the Member’s terminal degree; and
10.2.3.1.3 Sustained, satisfactory service.
Promotion to Associate Professor. (a) To qualify for promotion to the rank of Associate Professor, a Faculty Member shall have established the effectiveness of his/her teaching over a period of years. In addition, depending upon the disciplinary area to which the Faculty Member belongs, he/she shall be expected to show evidence of some combination of maturity of scholarship and professional achievement.
Promotion to Associate Professor. 1. Promotion to Associate Professor and the granting of tenure shall occur at the same time for those hired on step one as an Assistant Professor on a tenure line. If stipulated in the initial hiring contract, a faculty member may be reviewed for promotion to Associate Professor and tenure after a combined minimum of four years of successful continuous service on tenure track at WOU and another comparable institution. Such faculty members may apply for tenure after two complete years of successful, continuous service on the tenure track at WOU.
3. A faculty member who becomes a parent through birth or adoption at any point during the probationary period shall, upon written notification to the Division Chair within six (6) months of the birth or adoption, be automatically awarded a one-year extension of the probationary period before mandatory consideration for indefinite tenure is given. It is the sole decision of the probationary faculty member whether to use or decline the extension. The faculty member shall indicate his/her intent to apply for tenure and promotion in the Annual Faculty Report. If the faculty member applies for family medical leave in the Office of Human Resources due to the birth or adoption of a child during the probationary period, the Office of Human Resources will advise the faculty member of the availability of the automatic extension and, with the faculty member’s consent, notify the Division Chair that the faculty member will accept the automatic one- year extension.
Promotion to Associate Professor. At the time that a faculty member becomes a tenure designate or tenured member of the faculty, s/he shall be promoted to the rank of Associate Professor if s/he has been an Assistant Professor for six (6) years or more.
Promotion to Associate Professor. 1. Promotion to Associate Professor and the granting of tenure shall occur at the same time for those hired as Assistant Professor on a tenure line. If awarded, the promotion and tenure shall become effective at the beginning of the sixth year of full time service.
