Proportion of Salary. (a) A teacher upon appointment shall be paid from the date upon which the teacher commenced duty, provided that a teacher who has taught (or has been granted leave by the school) for each day of the school year at the particular school shall be paid as for a full calendar year. A teacher who ceases duty before completing ten (10) teaching weeks of employment shall be paid in lieu of vacation pay an amount equal to one-twelfth (1/12th) of their ordinary pay for the period of employment.
(b) A teacher who ceases duty after at least ten (10) teaching weeks of employment shall be paid the proportion of the teacher's annual salary of that year that the teacher's service excluding school vacations bears to a standard school year; provided that such proportion of salary shall be calculated on the salary which the employee was receiving immediately before cessation of employment.
(c) For the purposes of this clause, in any employing authority, a standard school year for a teacher is calculated as: One Standard Year = Number of weeks in Term 1 + Number of weeks in Term 2 + Number of weeks in Term 3 + Number of weeks in Term 4.

5.1.3 A working year is deemed for the purposes of this clause to be 40 teaching weeks.
5.1.4 The wage that is proportioned shall be calculated on the wage the employee is receiving immediately before the cessation of employment.
5.1.5 The employee who ceases duty before completing ten (10) weeks of employment shall, in addition to the payment for weeks worked, be paid an amount equal to 1/12th of their ordinary pay for their period of employment.

(e) The employee who ceases duty before completing ten weeks of employment shall, in addition to the payment for weeks worked, be paid an amount equal to one-twelfth (1/12th) of their ordinary pay for their period of employment.

(ii) Number of weeks in a term includes days when:
(A) a teacher is required to attend work when students are not in attendance; and
(B) a teacher in a boarding school with boarding responsibilities is required to attend work to fulfil those responsibilities. Such additional time will be identified prior to the beginning of each year to all teachers involved.

(c) A standard year shall be deemed for the purposes of clause 4.1.2 to be 40 weeks in a Catholic school. In the case of a boarding school, the proportion of salary shall reflect the number of weeks teachers are in attendance.
3. By deleting clause 7.1 (Classification) and inserting the following in lieu thereof:

5.1.3 A working year is deemed for the purposes of this clause to be 40 or 41 teaching weeks consistent with the academic calendar for State Primary Schools.
5.1.4 The wage that is proportioned shall be calculated on the wage the employee is receiving immediately before the cessation of employment.
5.1.5 The employee who ceases duty before completing ten weeks of employment shall, in addition to the payment for weeks worked, be paid an amount equal to one-twelfth (1/12th) of their ordinary pay for their period of employment.

A Teacher who has completed less than ¼ (ten weeks) of the teaching weeks for the year of employment shall be paid in lieu of vacation pay an amount equal to 1/12th of their ordinary pay for the period of employment. A Teacher who does not work for the full standard year and has completed at least ¼ (ten weeks) of the teaching weeks for the year of employment shall be paid the proportion of the Teacher's annual salary of that year that the Teacher's service excluding school vacations bears to a standard school year. Provided that such proportion of salary shall be calculated on the salary which the employee was receiving immediately before cessation of employment. The method for calculating Proportion of Salary for teachers is contained in Appendix 5 of this Agreement.
