Public Office Leave. The Employer recognizes the rights of Employees to participate in public affairs. Therefore, upon written request, the Employer shall grant leave of absence without pay to enable Employees to be candidates in federal, provincial or municipal elections. If elected, the Employee shall be granted a leave of absence for one (1) full term of office, and the Employer may post the position for the full term of office, notwithstanding the twelve (12) month limitation in Article 17.1.
