RDO Flexibility. The application of this clause is dependent upon consultation and agreement between the parties provided that agreement will not be unreasonably withheld.
2.7.1 To ensure production can be maintained and that the Employer can meet contractual obligations, there can be a system whereby employees may be rostered by the Employer to work on RDOs. When this occurs any employee so affected will take an alternative agreed RDO.
2.7.2 Flexibility in taking RDOs may be achieved by the Employer, employee(s) and the Union at the site level agreeing to change the RDO to another agreed date within the work cycle.
2.7.3 Where a principal contractor closes a site the Employer, after consultation and agreement with the Union at a site level, may reschedule the RDO to be taken in line with the builder on that site.
2.7.4 Traditionally the nature of the electrical and communications contracting industry is such that there are a range of work/tasks that are usually conducted out of hours, on weekends or when sites are not fully staffed. The type of work referred to will include (but not be limited to) the following:
2.7.5 The Employer may require work to be undertaken on the prescribed or substituted RDO because of unforeseen circumstances, such as emergency conditions.
2.7.6 Payment for RDOs will be made on the basis of time accrued. Where insufficient time has accrued, payment will only be made for the time accrued.
2.7.7 At no time shall RDOs be cashed out except on termination of employment.
2.7.8 The substitution of RDOs in accordance with this clause shall not give rise to any extra wage claims or claims for extra days off.

RDO Flexibility. (a) The Employer agrees that RDOs play a very important role in ensuring that:
(i) Employees have an appropriate work/life balance;
(ii) Employees can spend sufficient time with their partners, children and family to ensure that such relationships are healthy and positive;
(iii) Employee have time to participate in community organisations or the like. The above all assist in improving Employee morale and productivity, as well as improving the society the Employees live in and the Employer operates in.
(b) Accordingly, the Employer will endeavour to not require the Employees to work on their RDOs.

It is recognised by the parties that job creation and quality of life is vital to employees and the Electrical and Communications Contracting Industry therefore flexibility in taking RDO's may be achieved by the Company and an employee(s) agreeing to change their RDO’s to another mutually convenient day.

The type of work referred to will include (but not be limited to) the following: • Emergency / break down work • Switchboard maintenance / changeover • Shut downs • Disconnection of power etc. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Agreement, when it is necessary to perform work of this nature, employees may be required to be available to undertake the work. This clause includes RDOs and RDO weekends. Any employee whose RDO is affected will take an alternative agreed day.

RDO Flexibility. RDO flexibility is to be implemented as set out below:
RDO Flexibility. There shall be flexibility in taking RDOs against the principle of balancing the needs of the employee and the Employer. This flexibility will be arranged by agreement between the Employer and the majority of employees concerned.
RDO Flexibility a. Flexibility in taking RDO’s may be achieved by the Company and an Employee agreeing to change their RDOs to another mutually convenient date.
b. To allow greater continuity of operation, the Company and any affected Employee(s) may also agree to move or bank RDOs.
c. In the event that there is a requirement for work to be carried out on a scheduled RDO or fixed RDOs and/or the adjacent weekend, the Company will, in advance of this requirement, notify, consult and reach agreement with affected Employee(s) to perform this work. Agreement to perform this work will not be unreasonably withheld by an affected Employee.
d. Subject to operational requirements, the Company will endeavour to give employees at least 7 days’ notice of any such need for work to occur so as to ensure appropriate consultation. Such requirements must be based on genuine circumstances.
e. An Employee may refuse to work on a Scheduled RDO (or any substituted day) if the requirement to do so is plainly unreasonable having regard to:
i. the hours of work that will be worked by that Employee in the week of the scheduled RDO;
ii. the number of scheduled RDOs worked by the Employee within the previous six weeks;
iii. the Employee’s family responsibilities; and
iv. any other special circumstances peculiar to the Employee.
RDO Flexibility. 5.3.1 All accrued Rostered Days Off shall be banked and taken only in the first seven (7) months of each calendar year. The time of taking the banked RDO's shall be determined by the Company following consultation with the Employee concerned.
5.3.2 It is agreed that no more than five (5) RDO's are to be taken in any one (1) month by any one (1) individual.
5.3.3 It is agreed that not more than 30% of Employees are to be absent on RDO's at any one (1) time.
RDO Flexibility. To suit work and training scheduling and provide employees with flexible RDOs than RDO flexibility needs to exist with the employee and his/her supervisor. In such cases, the employee and supervisor will document and agree the times and dates for any future reference. Agreement to the flexibility of RDO‘s will not be unreasonably withheld if prior discussion takes place between the parties.
