Referral to Department Director. The grievance may be referred to the Director's level and shall include a copy of the original grievance, the decision rendered at the Deputy Director's level, and a clear, concise statement of the reasons for the referral. The Director of Public Works may designate a personnel representative to investigate the merits of the complaint, to meet with the complaining employee (and/or the employee's xxxxxxx or Union representative); if the grievant is not the Union itself, to meet with the officials of the Union; and to settle such grievance or to make recommendations thereon to the City Manager in his or her capacity as an employee relations officer. The Director of Public Works shall issue a formal written decision within five (5) days of receipt of the grievance or if a meeting is held with the employee and his or her Union, the meeting must be held within ten (10) days of receiving the referral. The Director of Public Works or his or her designee shall issue a written decision within five (5) days from his or her meeting with the complaining employee and/or Union representative. If the issue is not resolved the grievance may be referred to the Third Formal Step within thirty (30) days of receipt of the response from the Director of Public Works.

Referral to Department Director. Any employee or any official of the employee organization which has been formally recognized by the City and which has jurisdiction over any position directly affected by the grievance may notify the Department Director in writing that a grievance exists, This notification must be submitted within seven (7) calendar days of the initial discussion, or within the initial fourteen (14) calendar day period specified in 24.1 above. In such notification, the grievant must state the particulars of the grievance, the provision of the MOU that is alleged to have been violated and, the desired resolution/outcome. No grievance may be processed under subsection 24.3 below which has not first been filed and investigated in pursuance of this subsection 24.2. The Department Director shall have fourteen (14) calendar days to respond to the grievance.   • Department Chairpersons 17.1 In each elementary, middle and senior high school, the need for department chairpersons/team leaders shall be determined by the principal. Each such department chairperson/team leader shall be appointed for one (1) academic year. If possible, such appointment should be made prior to the end of the preceding academic year. Teachers shall have the right to refuse such appointment. Team leaders will have coordinating and planning functions for their teams and shall serve as liaison between their teams and the principal.   • Deferral Election A Participant may elect to defer all or a specified percentage of the Compensation earned in a Plan Year by such Participant for serving as a member of the Board of any Participating Fund or as a member of any committee or subcommittee thereof. Reimbursement of expenses of attending meetings of the Board, committees of the Board or subcommittees of such committees may not be deferred.   • Form of Compensation Compensation for overtime shall be paid except where, upon request of the Employee, and with the approval of the Employer, or its representative, overtime may be granted in the form of time off in lieu of overtime hours worked.

  • Insurance Committee An Insurance Committee comprised of three (3) representatives selected by the Superintendent and three (3) representatives selected by Okeechobee County Education Association #1604 shall be established to review and make recommendations regarding the health insurance program.
