REQUESTS FOR AND SCHEUDLING OF HOLIDAYS AND VACATIONS. 1. Requests Before April 1st Written requests for time off for vacations for the period of May 1 through April 30 shall, whenever possible, be submitted before April 1st. Floating holiday requests may be submitted at any time. The Nursing Department shall use the above process except for Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend the following shall apply: Starting with February 1st, Employees shall indicate their vacation preference with the most senior Employee having first choice, the second most senior having second choice, etc. Employees shall have no more than twenty-four (24) hours to decide before going to the next Employee. A choice may be one (1) day to a maximum of two (2) weeks. As employees bid on vacation, if a full week is not available, the employee will have the option of bidding on up to five (5) non-consecutive days in the first pass only. If more time off remains available after going through seniority, the process starts over. When multiple Employees apply for vacation on the same date, unsuccessful applicants will be wait-listed for that date by seniority. If the date opened up because of the successful applicant terminating, the successful applicant advising the Employer that the date is no longer desired, or for other reasons, if the schedule including that date has not been posted, the date will be offered by seniority to the wait-listed Employees. If the schedule, including that date, has been posted when the opening occurs, the date need not be offered to wait-listed Employee(s).

  • STATUTORY HOLIDAYS AND VACATIONS If statutory holidays, to which an employee is entitled with pay, occur within his or her vacation period, the employee shall be granted an additional day's vacation for each in lieu thereof.

  • GENERAL HOLIDAYS 13.01 The following days shall be recognized and considered as paid general holidays: New Year's Day Labour Day Xxxxx Xxxx Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Xxxxx Xxx Day and any other day or portion of a day designated as a paid holiday by the Civic, Provincial or Federal Government.

  • Compensation for Holidays Falling Within Vacation Schedule If a paid holiday falls on or is observed during an employee's vacation period, he/she shall be allowed an additional vacation day with pay at a time mutually agreed upon by the Employer and employee.

  • ANNUAL VACATIONS Vacation entitlement earned during previous employment shall be credited to the employee, and vacations granted shall be in accordance with such previous entitlement (Articles 28.01 and 28.02).

  • Pay for Holidays Worked (a) When an employee is required to work on a designated holiday, the employee shall be paid compensation, or given compensatory time off, for such work at the rate of time and one-half the employee’s regular rate of pay, in addition to regular pay received for all hours worked for the holiday.

  • Unit Weekend Schedule A unit weekend schedule may be developed in order to meet the Hospital’s need for weekend staff, and individual nurses’ preference for a weekend work schedule. A unit weekend schedule is defined as a schedule in which a full-time nurse works a weekly average of thirty (30) hours and is paid for 37.5 hours at her or his regular straight time hourly rate. The schedule must include two 11.25 hour tours, which fall within a weekend period as determined by the Hospital and the Association. A nurse working a weekend schedule will work every weekend except as provided for in the provisions below. If the Hospital and the Association agree to a unit weekend schedule, the introduction of that schedule and the manner in which the position(s) are filled, shall be determined by the local parties and recorded in the Appendix of Local Provisions. This unit schedule may be discontinued by either party with notice as determined within the Appendix of Local Provisions. The opportunity for an individual nurse to discontinue this schedule shall be resolved by the local parties:

  • Compensation for Holidays Worked a. With the exception of the provisions in Section C.2.b., below, an employee required to work on a holiday listed above shall be paid at the employee's regular straight-time rate of pay for the hours actually worked. In addition, an eligible employee shall receive either compensatory time off or holiday pay at the option of the University at the regular straight-time rate, including any shift differential.
