Safety Retirement. 372. If the voters approve an amendment to Charter Section A8.506-2 to delete the “no net increase in cost” requirement in that section, the City agrees to meet and confer with the Union over a mutually satisfactory contract amendment with PERS to effect safety retirement improvements. As set forth in Charter Section A8.409-5, the parties acknowledge that this paragraph is not subject to Charter Section A8.409’s impasse resolution procedures. 373. Non-permanent employees who have earned not less than 1,040 hours of compensation during any twelve-month period shall become eligible for membership in the San Francisco Retirement System and shall be required to enroll.

The City, in concert with the Union, shall take all necessary steps to effect a mutually satisfactory contract with PERS to effect a safety retirement plan to be made available to members of current representation unit 11-I. 336. Safety Retirement. A. Subject to meeting the provisions of Government Code Section 18717, the State agrees to support the inclusion of Nurse Instructors at Department of Mental Health forensic facilities and Registered Nurses in forensic facilities in the Department of Developmental Services in the State safety category of membership in the Public Employees Retirement System.
Safety Retirement. County Fire agrees to take necessary administrative actions to place individuals currently assigned to the Hazardous Materials Response Team in the Safety Retirement System of SBCERA on or about October 4, 2003. Specifically, County Fire will establish a separate classification series for the positions/employees assigned to the Hazardous Materials Response Team, reclassify the positions to the new series, appoint the individual incumbents who are in said position, and adopt a resolution to make Section 31664.1 of the Government Code (Safety Retirement) applicable to positions/employees in the new classification series. Upon entrance into the Safety Retirement program, the employees’ contribution rates shall be adjusted to reflect the rates applicable to Safety members; said rates may be adjusted annually by SBCERA.
Safety Retirement. Effective December 7, 2012, the City amended its contract with CalPERS to provide employees hired on or after that date who are not “new members” of CalPERS, as defined in the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act (often referred to as “classic” CalPERS members) with the CalPERS retirement formula three percent of final salary at age 55 (“3%@55”), with the final salary determination for such employees of “3 highest consecutive years” based on the highest average annual compensation earnable by the member during three (3) consecutive years of employment immediately preceding retirement or the three-year period otherwise designated by the member (Government Code section 20037).

Safety Retirement. The City will continue the present benefits under the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) "3 percent at 50 (3%@50)" formula for employees hired before the effective date of the “3 percent at 55” (3%@55) formula for new hires as described herein. The final year compensation for employees hired under the 3% at 50 formula will continue to be “Single highest year” or the highest average annual compensation earnable by the member during one (1) year of employment immediately preceding retirement or the one-year period otherwise designated by the member (Government Code section 20042).
Safety Retirement. The Employer agrees that all Employees hired after 1-1-2013 will be provided the Safety PEPRA (Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2013) 2.7% @57 Retirement plan.
Safety Retirement. Employees in the class of Criminal Investigator who are currently miscellaneous members of the Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System shall become safety members effective September 24, 1989. For service prior to this date, such employees shall maintain their service credit as miscellaneous members and this change to safety membership shall not be retroactive.
Safety Retirement. New Deputy Commissioner, Board of Prison Terms Classification The Department of Personnel Administration shall notify the Public Employees Retirement System that employees in the new Deputy Commissioner, Board of Prison Terms, classification satisfy the criteria for safety membership, provided that: (a) Government Code sections 19816.20 and 20405.1 are amended to include Unit 2 as provided in Section 14.5 of this agreement; and, (b) the State Personnel Board adopts the new Deputy Commissioner, Board of Prison Terms, classification as provided for in Section 15.5 of this agreement.
