Scheduling Floating Holidays. The scheduling of floating holidays should be made at least 30 days in advance of use, if possible. Floating holidays must be taken in blocks of 8 hours. While departments will attempt to accommodate pre-selected floating holidays, if an employee promotes or transfers into a new department, the floating holiday(s) may be adjusted around the needs of the department and/or the holiday schedules of the existing employees.

Scheduling Floating Holidays. Scheduling of the floating holiday may be done in the following manner. First, employees wishing to schedule the floating holiday far in advance shall, the first Monday in November, submit their request, in writing, to their immediate supervisor. In this situation, the choice of a particular holiday shall be given to the employees in order of bargaining unit seniority, subject to the University's work requirements. Second, employees who do not wish to schedule their floating holiday by the first Monday in November must secure approval from their supervisor at least two (2) weeks before the day they wish to observe as a floating holiday. In this situation, the choice of a particular holiday shall be given to the employees in the order which the requests are received, subject to the University's work requirements. With the consent of an employee's supervisor, the two (2) weeks notification may be waived. An employee's request to use his or her floating holiday at a particular time shall not be unreasonably denied.

  • Floating Holidays In addition to the authorized days in 9.2. each employee, including each academic employee, shall be authorized two (2) floating holidays of his/her choice per fiscal year.

  • Floating Holiday All employees except intermittent, emergency, and temporary employees shall also receive one (1) floating holiday each fiscal year of this Agreement. However, seasonal employees shall be eligible for only one (1) floating holiday per season and intermittent employees shall receive one (1) floating holiday each fiscal year of this Agreement if they complete ninety-one (91) working days in that fiscal year. Unless waived by the supervisor, the employee must request the floating holiday at least fourteen (14) calendar days in advance. The Appointing Authority may limit the number of employees that may be absent on any given day subject to the operational needs of the Appointing Authority. Any conflicts for requested holidays shall be resolved on the basis of State Seniority within the employee's work unit. The Appointing Authority shall make a reasonable effort to approve the requested holiday. Floating holidays may not be accumulated. An employee who has not requested the floating holiday by March 1 of each fiscal year or by thirty (30) calendar days prior to the end of an employee's season shall be scheduled to take a floating holiday on a day chosen by the Appointing Authority or be paid for the floating holiday in cash at the option of the Appointing Authority.

  • Holiday Scheduling Work assignments for holidays shall be prepared in advance of the holiday and when work is available, employees shall be given an opportunity to request to either work or be off. Such requests shall be granted to the extent possible in keeping with the operating needs of the work unit. When all requests cannot be granted within a classification and within a work unit, they shall be granted on a rotating basis so that each employee’s desires will be met as many times as is possible for each year, subject to Paragraph

  • Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday.

  • Scheduling of Paid Holidays For the purposes of this Memorandum the statutory holidays outlined in Article 39.01 of the Collective Agreement are incorporated into the work schedules during off duty days. All such statutory holidays shall be identified and recorded in ink in the nursing staff work schedules on the basis of seven point two (7.2) paid hours. Every effort shall be made to spread the statutory holidays off evenly throughout the year.

  • Annual Holidays (i) On completion of 12 months continuous service an employee shall be entitled to annual paid leave of 4 working weeks.

  • Public Holidays 11.1 The following days are public holidays: New Year's Day, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and any other gazetted public holidays in the relevant state or territory in which the work is being performed, other than:

  • Public Holiday Work (a) For Employees other than Shiftworkers, double time and a half must be paid for any Public Holiday Work with a minimum payment of four hours.

  • Special Holidays A Special Holiday is a holiday declared a holiday by the University for its employees other than a Saturday, Sunday, General (Statutory) Holiday or day declared by the University to be in lieu of a Statutory Holiday. The rate of pay for the Special Holiday shall be that which the employee would have received if she/he had worked.

  • GENERAL HOLIDAYS 13.01 The following days shall be recognized and considered as paid general holidays: New Year's Day Labour Day Xxxxx Xxxx Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Xxxxx Xxx Day and any other day or portion of a day designated as a paid holiday by the Civic, Provincial or Federal Government.
