Floating Holiday definition

Floating Holiday. The District shall grant employees in the bargaining unit two 36 floating holidays to be taken during the fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). The 37 holidays may be taken at the discretion of the employee with the advance 38 approval of the employee’s immediate manager. The floating holidays must be 39 used during each fiscal year or they will be forfeited. The floating holidays may 40 not be carried over from one year to the next. 41 42 43 44 45
Floating Holiday means an annual scheduled day off with pay as provided for in 2-18-603(3)
Floating Holiday. A unit member shall have an extra floating holiday in honor of the unit member’s birthday. The Floating Holiday cannot be accrued or carried over into a new school year. The Supervisor shall notify a unit member requesting a Floating Holiday of the status of the request prior to the start of the requested Floating Holiday, but in no instance later than ten (10) days after the unit member has submitted the request. If two (2) or more unit members in the same site/department request the same date for a Floating Holiday, the most senior employee shall be given preference. The date of the Floating Holiday shall be mutually agreed upon by the unit member and the unit member’s immediate supervisor. If a mutual date cannot be agreed upon by the unit member and the unit member’s supervisor, then a Personnel Administrator shall determine the alternative Floating Holiday date and the unit member shall be entitled to an alternate Floating Holiday of one and one-half (1 ½) days.

More Definitions of Floating Holiday

Floating Holiday. Employees employed as of January I shall make written request for a floating holiday to be used in that calendar year, the scheduling of which shall not be unreasonably denied by the Employer in consideration of the operating needs of the Home.
Floating Holiday. A “floating holiday” is time given off from work as substitution for a public, observed, or local declared holiday.
Floating Holiday. All employees shall be credited with one Floating Holiday each calendar year, beginning in 2008, to be used on any date selected by the employee. Employees will be credited with one floating holiday each January 1st which must be used during the calendar year and may not be accumulated from year to year. The scheduling of floating holidays is pursuant the same rules applicable for approval of annual leave.
Floating Holiday. Employees who have established seniority standing by successfully completing their 90-day probationary period are eligible to request one (1) of the Designated Holidays falling between December 25th and 31st (“Available Designated Holidays”) be carried over as a Floating Holiday for use in the following calendar year. Eligible employees who wish to have one (1) of the Available Designated Holidays reclassified as a Floating Holiday must submit a written request to HR no later than November 30th. Employees can be approved to use a Floating Holiday regardless of whether they perform work on that Available Designated Holiday or not. Approved Floating Holidays will be paid out at 8hrs at the employee’s straight time hourly rate of pay, when used. Employees can use the Floating Holiday without prior notice or penalty on any working day they choose between December 1st and November 30th of each calendar year. Unused Floating Holidays will not be paid out at the end of the calendar year. Employee A submits a request to reclassify an Available Designates Holiday from the week of Dec 25th – Dec 31st. The request is received and approved by HR. Employee A will not be paid for one of those Available Designated Holidays in the week mentioned above, and they now have an 8hr Floating Holiday in their PTO bank. Employee A decides to use their approved Floating Holiday on their birthday. Employee A calls into the call-off line on the day of their birthday and requests to use their approved Floating Holiday. They are paid 8hrs of straight time pay on the day of their birthday in that week.
Floating Holiday. Two floating holidays per fiscal year shall be observed, with approval by your immediate supervisor. In case of multiple requests in one work unit or area for the same date, selection shall be by seniority. An employee must have one or more prior employment years of service to be entitled to the floating holiday.
Floating Holiday means a holiday in which the employee may elect, with City approval, to take the paid holiday off on that date or defer it to another date.
Floating Holiday mutually agreed upon by the Immediate Supervisor. Employee can flex Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The day must be used the day before or the day after Christmas and/or New Years. The day must be in the same pay week (Monday through Sunday). If the bargaining unit member opts to flex Christmas Eve and/or New Year’s Eve, he/she understands that working Christmas Eve and/or New Year’s Eve will not be holiday pay. (Revised 2015)
