Sick Leave Credits During Leave of Absence. When an employee is given leave of absence without pay for any reason, or is laid off on account of lack of work and returns to the service of the Employer upon expiration of such leave of absence, etc., the employee shall not receive sick leave credit for the period of such absence, but shall retain the employee's cumulative credit, if any, existing at the time of such leave or layoff.
Sick Leave Credits During Leave of Absence. When a member is granted leave of absence without pay for any reason or is laid off due to a lack of work, or is absent due to illness and is in receipt of benefits pursuant to this plan, or on Long-term Disability or WSIB, and returns to work prior to the end of the calendar year, he/she shall upon return to work, retain any credits outstanding prior to the commencement of such leave or layoff for that calendar year, subject to the terms of the plan. If such leave commences prior to January 1st and continues after January 1st, the member will receive sick leave credits upon his/her return to work for the calendar year in which he/she returns to work on a pro-rated basis.
