Sick leave may be used. For the employee’s own illness, injury, pregnancy, or medical condition; ● To obtain a professional diagnosis or treatment of their medical condition or undergo a physical examination; or ● To care for a Family Member who is ill, injured, receiving medical care, treatment, or diagnosis, or who needs the employee’s assistance/support to attend an appointment for medical diagnosis, care, treatment for an existing medical condition, or for preventative care.
Sick leave may be used for the following reasons: A. Illness, injury, pregnancy, or childbirth related conditions of the employee, or of a member of the employee’s immediate family when the employee’s presence is reasonably necessary; B. Exposure of the employee to a contagious disease which would have the potential of jeopardizing the health of the employee or the health of others; C. Medical, dental, or optical examinations or treatment of the employee, or of a member of the employee’s immediate family when the employee’s attendance is reasonably necessary and when such examination or treatment cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. Immediate family is defined to include spouse, parent, son, and daughter. The term “spouse” means current husband or wife as defined or recognized under state law for purposes of marriage. The term “parent” means the biological parent or individual who stands or stood in loco parentis (in the place of a parent) to an employee when the employee was a child. This term does not include parents “in-law.” The terms “son” or “daughter” means biological, adopted, or ▇▇▇▇▇▇ child, a step-child, a legal ▇▇▇▇, or a child or a person for whom the employee stands in loco parentis, who is either under age eighteen (18) or age eighteen (18) or older and “incapable of self-care (in several of the activities of daily living) because of a mental or physical disability.”
Sick leave may be used as needed and approved, to the point of depletion, at which time the employee will no longer receive pay for sick leave. A new employee may, if necessary, use up to forty-eight (48) hours or shift equivalent of sick leave at any time during the first six months of employment. Any negative balances generated by such utilization will be charged against future accrual or deducted from final paycheck in the event of termination.
Sick leave may be used. IMMEDIATE FAMILY: Immediate family shall be defined as spouse, parent, children, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, mother-in-law, step-mother, step-father or a person living in the same household. FUNERAL LEAVE: Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used to attend the funeral services of a personal friend or an extended family member who is not defined in the previous paragraph as an immediate family member.
