SITE DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY Sample Clauses

SITE DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY. The targeted site (Site) is the vacant southeastern portion of the parcel that includes the Calhoun County Justice Center, in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan. It is located near the intersection of Elm Street and East Michigan Avenue and encompasses approximately 2 acres. The Site is known as “The Mound” because it is characterized as an approximately 50-foot by 350-foot mound that is an average of 15 feet in height. The Site was developed by 1919 with rail lines and a “gateman tower” associated with an adjoining railyard/roundhouse. During this time period, the adjoining sites were developed as a lumber/coal yard, automotive parts manufacturing operation, and a bulk oil storage site. The rail lines remained on the Site until the late 1980s/early 1990s, when the Site became vacant. Between 1993 and 1994 during construction of the Calhoun County Justice Center, soil was moved from the area of the justice center building site and piled on the Site in a mound. The Site has remained vacant land since this time as the mound has prevented any type of site use or redevelopment.

SITE DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY. The Xxxxxx Cribbing Site (Site) is located on the slopes of Battle Mountain just south of the historic mining mill station of Xxxxxx, between the towns of Minturn and Red Cliff, in Eagle County, Colorado, as generally depicted on the map attached hereto as Appendix 1. The Site includes at least twenty-one significant waste rock piles from former mining operations and a series of deteriorating wood cribbings originally constructed apparently to retain the waste rock on the mountain. The steep slopes within the Site level off at the bottom of the canyon where the railroad track is located along the eastern side of the Eagle River. The approximate northern border of the Site is, and includes, the Xxx Xxxxxx mining claim, at or immediately south of Xxxxxx. The Site extends approximately 1 (one) mile south to, and includes, the Alpine mining claim. The Site is bordered on the west by the Eagle River and on the east by the canyon rim, approximately 500 feet west of US Highway 24. Historic mine claims in the vicinity include, but are not limited to, the Xxx Xxxxxx, Tip Top, Star of the Xxxx, Xxxxx, Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Xxxx Xxxxxx, Copper King, and Alpine. The railroad line and right-of-way on the east side of the Eagle River, currently owned by Union Pacific Railroad Company (UP)(although not currently in service), are located on the Site.
SITE DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY. The Lane Street Site, in Elkhart, Elkhart County, Indiana, occupies about 65 acres (Figure B-1). The site is composed of mixed residential, commercial, and industrial areas. Most of the residents and industries within the approximate site boundary do not use private xxxxx. The unknown source of the groundwater plume is presumed to be from the industrial park to the north of Lane Street (EPA 2009). Groundwater at the Lane Street Site is moving primarily south, toward the St. Xxxxxx River. The site consists of a groundwater plume contaminated with VOCs, specifically, trichloroethene (TCE), 1,1,1-trichloroethane (1,1,1-TCA), 1,1-dichloroethane (1,1-DCA), 1,1-dichloroethene (1,1-DCE), cis-1,2-DCE, trans-1,2-DCE, and tetrachloroethene (PCE). The VOCs likely originate from a release of chlorinated solvents. Available information has tentatively defined the plume boundaries based primarily on residential well samples and sampling conducted by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) in April 2008. Based on this delineation, the plume in the residential area of Lane Street is at least 750 feet long and 300 feet wide at its widest extent, although it is not fully defined to the east or west. At present, the site boundaries have been determined to be Barley Street on the south, the eastern property boundary of the private property at County Road 106 on the east, and an undeveloped property (Parcel ID 02-26-301-024-026) on the west. North of County Road 106, the eastern boundary widens to include the industrial park bounded by Marina Drive on the east, Ada Drive on the west, County Road 106 in the south, and Xxxxxx Drive on the north (see Figure B-2). The unknown source of the plume is presumed to originate from the industrial park to the north of Lane Street (EPA 2009).
SITE DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY. Location: The site is located in an urban area. The 1.61 acre site is located at 00-00 Xxxxxxxxxx Xxxxxx xx Xxxxx, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx, Xxx Xxxx. The site is situated adjacent to a railroad line on the north side and Genesee Street to the east. The Utica Harbor and Mohawk River are located approximately 0.25 miles north of the property. Site Features: The site is vacant and covered with a mixture of concrete sidewalks, asphalt parking and weedy vegetation. Current Zoning/Uses: The site is currently inactive, and is zoned for commercial use. The surrounding parcels are currently vacant or used for a combination of commercial, public recreation and light industrial.
SITE DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY. The East Xxxx site is located in the City of Xxxx, Miami County, Ohio (Figure 1). The East Xxxx site consists of groundwater contamination that has adversely impacted water quality in the local sand and gravel aquifer. The aquifer is the sole source of drinking water in the area. The City of Xxxx operates two water supply wellfields, the West Wellfield and the East Wellfield, located approximately 0.75 mile apart on the east bank of the Great Miami River (Figure 2). Low concentrations of chlorinated VOCs have been detected in samples of raw water from production xxxxx in both wellfields; these include xxxxx 14 and 18 in the East Wellfield, and well 12W in the West Wellfield. However, the concentrations of VOCs in the raw water samples from the east wellfield have not exceeded the U.S. EPA Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL) established by the Safe Drinking Water Act. It is believed that the groundwater contamination in the East Wellfield and West Wellfield represents two separate plumes based on the absence of detections of VOCs in groundwater samples from City of Xxxx monitoring xxxxx L, M, and N (see Figure 2), which are located between the two wellfields (Xxxx 2009a). It is also believed that the sources of contamination of each wellfield differ, based on past investigations by Ohio EPA that suggested the source areas for the West Wellfield contamination were located in the northern portion of Troy, west of the Great Miami River (Ohio EPA 2002; EPA 2008). Groundwater monitoring data from the area east of the Great Miami River are limited; therefore additional investigation is needed to confirm that there are no contributing sources east of the river. An extensive area of contamination has been identified in the eastern part of the City of Xxxx, across (west of) the Great Miami River from the East Wellfield. That area, identified as the East Xxxx Contaminated Aquifer Site (Figures 2 and 3), is the subject of this RI/FS. As previously discussed, data collected to date indicate that this area may be comprised of three currently separate plumes, that may have originated from multiple sources. The contaminants detected to date in the East Xxxx site plumes are chlorinated VOCs, primarily PCE and TCE, with cis-1,2-DCE and vinyl chloride present as suspected degradation products of PCE and TCE (Ohio EPA 2002; EPA 2008; ATSDR 2008). The subsurface in the area reportedly consists of a thick sequence of sand, gravel, and clay that can generally be divided into three ...

  • System Description The wet detention basin is designed to trap 80% of sediment in runoff and maintain pre-development downstream peak flows. The basin has two forebays (smaller ponds) located at the low end of two grass xxxxxx. In addition to runoff conveyance, the grass xxxxxx also allow infiltration and filtering of pollutants, especially from smaller storms. The forebays are each 4 feet deep. They are connected to the main pool by 18 and 24-inch metal pipes that outlet onto a rock chute. The forebays will trap coarse sediments in runoff, such as road sands, thus reducing maintenance of the main basin. The main pool will trap the finer suspended sediment. To do this, the pond size, water level and outlet structures must be maintained as specified in this Agreement (see Figures 1, 2 and 3). The main basin receives runoff from a 67.1 acre drainage area (41.2 acres within the subdivision and 25.9 acres off-site drainage coming from the east). During high rainfall or snow melt events, the water level will temporarily rise and slowly drain down to the elevation of the control structure. The water level is controlled by a 12-inch concrete pipe extending through the berm in the northwest corner of the basin (see Figures 1 and 3). On the face of the 12-inch pipe, there is metal plate with a 3-inch drilled hole (orifice) with stone in front of it. This orifice controls the water level and causes the pond to temporarily rise during runoff events. Washed stone (1- 2” diameter) is placed in front of the orifice to prevent clogging. High flows may enter the grated concrete riser or flow over the rock lined emergency spillway. “As-built” construction drawings of the basin, showing actual dimensions, elevations, outlet structures, etc. will be recorded as an addendum(s) to this agreement within 60 days after [Municipality Name] accepts verification of construction from the project engineer.
