Special Education Caseload. When creating a special education caseload, building administration and special education specialists will provide an opportunity for collaborative input. Flexibility will be used in structuring caseloads. Training for case managers will be provided as needed.
Special Education Caseload. In any general education classroom, the total number of general education students and students with special needs will be subject to the class size language set forth in Article XI of the current parties’ collective bargaining agreement and such numbers will not exceed the case load/class size limits pertaining to students with special needs as set forth in Section 226.730 of the Illinois Administrative Code. A special education teacher or educational assistant(s) shall be present with the general education teacher, as mandated by the student’s IEP, while special needs students are in the general education classroom with the general educational teacher. If a student is enrolled in a PE and/or Music section that exceeds the maximum class capacity due to grade level class size or 70/30 ratio, then an Educational Assistant will remain with the student(s) during that specific class period.
Special Education Caseload. The District and Association leadership will meet times per year to review special education caseloads.
Special Education Caseload. The District realizes the value of reasonable caseloads for Special Education teachers and will attempt to keep caseloads as low as economically feasible. Each K-12 special education teacher may request an IEP work day, in the form of a substitute for every five (5) annual IEPs beyond a base annual IEP count of 10. The teacher’s IEP count will be calculated on the November 1 federal count day but may be adjusted upon petition to the Superintendent for substantial changes in annual IEP numbers or other extenuating circumstances. In addition, for special education teachers who have three (3) or more Portfolio students on their caseload, they may also request one (1) portfolio collection day for each of the required three (3) data points. This involves bringing in a substitute to teach their normal class while the special education teachers remain at school with their Portfolio students to gather data points and enter them into the Portfolio system. District retains the right to adjust this depending on budget circumstances.

Special Education Caseload. 1. Maximum Case Load
Special Education Caseload. 31.1 The district will staff according to the caseload limits defined in this section. For the purpose of determining overload for special education employees, the following definitions will be used: Compliant Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) or Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP’s) as reported each month on the P223H. Non-compliant IEP/IFSP – Student assigned to a caseload without compliant IEP/IFSP. Headcount – The number of compliant IEP’s/IFSP’s reported on the monthly P223H plus any non-compliant IEP/IFSP students assigned to a caseload.
31.2 For the purpose of overload pay, if a teacher’s caseload exceeds the limits described for ten (10) consecutive days, and those ten days span both semesters, the overload calculation applies to only the first semester. For overload calculation in the second semester, the caseload must exceed the limits described for ten (10) consecutive days within the second semester.
31.3 The District recognizes that adequate space and classroom materials are necessary for the proper delivery of services.
31.4 Special Education students will receive additional assistance per classroom according to their medical and/or behavioral needs or the amount of regular education inclusion needed. Such decisions will be based upon the recommendations of the IEP Team and the Special Education Administration.
