Class Size Limits. Class limits, including distance-learning classes, may be established or amended only with the approval of the Class Size Committee.
14.C.1. Established class limits may be exceeded by more than 20% for a given section(s) only by the voluntary action of the professor with the concurrence of the chairperson and the division xxxx of the department concerned.
Class Size Limits. The Board of Education agrees to observe reasonable class size limits subject to space availability, budgetary limitations, and availability of teachers or necessary funds. Classes of the same subject in a given Building during the same period should be of substantially the same size. All decisions on class size will be made in the best interests of pupils, teachers, and community-at-large.
Class Size Limits. The Association and the Board agree to respond to overloads using the system described below. It is the intent of this system to direct funds to new teachers and new sections of students as much as possible, instead of paying for overloads. It is also intended that absolute limits would be placed on those classes for which overloads would create unsafe conditions, or for which there is a limited number of work stations. It is the belief of the Association and Board that by working cooperatively, the most educationally appropriate solutions can be found to the problems created by overloads. Class size limits are delineated in Appendix C. The description below defines the appropriate response to possible overloads.
Class Size Limits. Class sizes are established as follows:
a) Lecture Courses: The number of students shall be determined in accordance with the pedagogical goals of the Course with a maximum of fifty (50). However, when the number of students in a given Course section exceeds fifty (50), the compensation provided for in paragraph a) of clause 16.03 shall apply.
Class Size Limits. The District agrees to make every effort to avoid exceeding the following standards for class size; except in traditional large group instruction and experimental classes where the Association has agreed, in writing, to exceed the standards set provided that the District has the physical and financial resources to correct such problems. The inability of the District to meet the following standards for class size in any given instance shall be reported to the Association with a list or explanation of reasons why the District cannot meet these limits. Class size limits are: K=20, 1-2=22, 3-4=24, 5-7=26 and the number of students in a multiage classroom cannot exceed the number of students in the straight grade classroom. Class sizes beyond these limits will be an irregularity and not the norm. Compensation for classes over the limit is: 1-2 students over = $25 per day 3-4 students over = 3.5 hours of aide time or $30 per day 5-6 students over = full time aide or $35 per day 7 or more students will prompt a discussion between the association, impacted teacher, and the district regarding possible resolutions to over-cap classrooms. The choice between an EA or monetary compensation will be mutually agreed upon by the teacher and administration. The Association agrees to pro-rating class size overloads based on the actual class enrollment and the number of minutes of teaching over the limit classes. Aide time for oversize classes is separate from aide time designated for special needs students such as those with I.E.P.s, 504 plans, and Title services. The Association agrees to pro-rating class size overloads based on the number of minutes teaching over the limit classes. All specialists will receive the same over cap compensation as the general education teachers. Both parties agree to a mutual re-opener as the State adds or decreases funding for class size limits.
Class Size Limits. The employee(s) and administration are aware that classrooms occasionally become overcrowded and that this overcrowding is a factor in the quality of education for students and working conditions for employees. In an effort to resolve the overcrowding concern, the following class size limits will be established. The maximum number of students per class as reported in the negotiated contract will be adhered to year around. Level Maximum Kindergarten 21 Transition - 1 21 Combined Rooms 21 2 - 3 Grade 22 4 - 5 Grade 26 6 Grade 26 7th - 12th Grade 28 (maximum, 150 student/day) Vocational Classes 23 Music Specialist 501/00FTE students = 2 hours of paraprofessional time per day. 6th, 7th and 8th PE Each class will receive one (1) hour of classroom aide time.
