Step 2, Written Procedure. If the grievance is not satisfactorily settled by the Step 1 procedure, the answer of the immediate supervisor may be appealed by the employee by reducing the grievance to writing and submitting it to the Director of Business Services within five (5) working days after the immediate supervisor's response. The Director of Business Services shall give his/her response to the grievance within five (5) working days after receipt.

Step 2, Written Procedure. Within five (5) working days from the supervisor’s answer in the verbal procedure, the complaint shall be reduced to writing, reciting the particular section and paragraphs of the contract which are alleged to have been violated. The grievance shall be signed by the employee and/or the Union and presented to the department supervisor or his/her duly authorized representative. The employee, Union xxxxxxx, and the Employer representative(s) shall arrange to discuss the grievance and the Employer shall answer said grievance in writing to the grievant and Union xxxxxxx within ten (10) working days after the Step 2 meeting.
Step 2, Written Procedure. If the grievance is not satisfactorily settled in the Oral Procedure, the complaint shall be reduced to a written grievance within four (4) days of the oral answer and submitted to the Elected Official or Department Head (or designated representative). The grievance shall be signed by the employee and shall indicate the Section or Sections of this Agreement in dispute and shall set forth the facts giving rise to the grievance and the relief requested. The preparation of a written grievance and discussion of such grievance shall not occur during working time unless otherwise approved by the employee’s supervisor. The Elected Official or Department Head (or designated representative), the employee and the xxxxxxx shall meet to discuss the grievance in an effort to settle same. The Elected Official or Department Head (or designated representative) shall respond in writing within five (5) working days following the meeting concerning the grievance. The answer shall be given to the employee with a copy to a xxxxxxx.

If the meeting cannot be scheduled within the ten (10) day period, it shall be scheduled at the mutual convenience of the parties. The Employer will answer the grievance within five (5) days after the meeting.
