It is unacceptable for students to: use any form of ICT to find, create or send material and activities which might upset, offend, harass or humiliate them or anyone else. Student Expectations. The use of the district's devices and network is a privilege and inappropriate use may result in a cancellation of those privileges. Security on any computer system is a high priority, especially when the system involves many users. If the user identifies a security problem on the system, the user must notify staff and must not demonstrate the problem to other users. Students are responsible for good behavior on school computers at all times, both in and out of school. Students shall return their device to school when he/she leaves the Ferndale School District. Every student is financially responsible for any damage to the device that may have occurred throughout the school year that had not been previously reported. Each family has the option to purchase technology device insurance at the beginning of a school year at $25 per year (for a student who qualifies for reduced lunch, the cost is $10 per year). Student Expectations. Students are responsible for bringing their District-issued devices to school every day and ensuring the devices are fully charged prior to each school day. If a student takes a device home, he/she is expected to bring the device back for the next school day. The device must be fully charged, in the provided case, and ready to use upon arrival at school.

Students will be expected to engage in virtual courses either by participating in the course “live” (synchronous) or by viewing content and engaging with educators and peers at a later time (asynchronous). • Students will not be “held harmless” in academics while learning in the virtual environment. Student grades earned in the virtual environment will be added to transcripts and become a part of the permanent record. • In order to enroll in courses virtually, students must have the necessary computer and technical skills necessary to succeed. Students must also have the ability to stay engaged in the virtual course. By choosing the virtual option, the student/parent is assuring Ritenour that the student does have such necessary technical skills and the ability to stay engaged. • Students’ participation in the virtual courses is essential to their success. Students will be expected to participate actively in their courses, and to complete course requirements within the time allotted for each course. • Students must use the technological devices supplied by Ritenour to participate in virtual courses. • Students in the virtual program will be required to take all Grade Level Assessments and End of Course Examinations as required by state law and District policy. The Grade Level Assessments and End of Course Examinations will be completed on Xxxxxxxx School District campuses, and administered by Ritenour staff. Parent/Guardian Expectations All parents who have students enrolled in virtual learning will be expected to support both the student and Ritenour staff by doing the following: • Ensure that the student has the necessary equipment, internet access/bandwidth, etc., needed to participate in virtual learning. • Ensuring the student does not attempt to access inappropriate content nor engage in cyberbullying. • Ensure that the student has sufficient time in his/her schedule each day to do the course work and that such scheduled time will be a priority for the student. Student Expectations. 1. Bring your 1:1 device to school every day. If a device is left at home, a loaner MAY be available. If not, students will be expected to complete their coursework by hand. If a device is left at home repeatedly, the student may lose their take-home privileges.

Students shall return the iPad equipment to the School District immediately if the student moves or ceases to attend in the School District and shall surrender the iPad equipment to a teacher, school administrator, or designees for inspection upon demand. Students shall immediately report to the school principal any problems with the iPad. Students shall NOT attempt to repair the iPad and shall NOT delete any software from the iPad.
