Use of Security Cameras. Prairie State College has installed numerous security cameras for the safety and welfare of the staff and students. The videos generated from the cameras will be used as a surveillance tool to deter criminal activity and to protect the campus. In cases of employee discipline and/or dismissal, the videos generated may be used only as supporting evidence. The Union President and/or Grievance Chair(s) may request to view designated videos and/or view security monitors.

It is the College’s responsibility to consider a safe environment balanced with the individual’s right to privacy. B. Security cameras may be used in public and open areas. No cameras will be installed in classroom or faculty offices without faculty request or knowledge. Areas recorded will be marked with appropriate signage, and cameras will not record sound. C. Any investigation utilizing video recordings will be conducted in conjunction with this collective bargaining agreement. If recordings are used as part of a just cause investigation, the union will receive a copy of said recording per Article 6, Section 7. D. All recordings from security cameras are confidential and will not generally be made available for third parties unless required by law. Exceptions include cooperative efforts with law enforcement and union representation. E. Use of security cameras for any non-official purpose is strictly forbidden. Any person utilizing security cameras for any illegal or prohibited purposes may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with this collective bargaining agreement. Recording devices may be required for accommodations or compliance with state or federal law.

These cameras and their recordings may be used by the Owner at Owner’s discretion for the protection of Owner’s guests, visitors, vendors, the Property, and the Owner and these recordings may be turned over to law enforcement officials upon their request. Use of Security Cameras. The central purpose for the adoption and implementation of video surveillance cameras is to ensure student and staff safety, to monitor illegal activity or activity that violates school policies, to monitor unauthorized access to restricted areas of the buildings, and to protect against unauthorized removal of or damage to district and/or personal property. Video is saved for 30 days only. The District’s use of video surveillance equipment is not intended to monitor any member of the AEA. Therefore, video surveillance equipment shall not be used to evaluate the instructional performance of teachers, coaches, or sponsors. Video from security/surveillance cameras shall not be used for evaluative purposes under any circumstances. In the event that a complaint against a member has been filed and potentially substantiated by video from the security/surveillance camera(s) the district shall permit the involved AEA member and a designated representative of the AEA to view the portion of the video recording relating to the alleged misconduct. The AEA shall be notified at least ten (10) business days prior to any additional surveillance cameras being installed within the district. If there is a compelling reason for a change due to student and/or staff safety in the use of camera(s) (i.e.. moving the location of a camera). The AEA and staff in the building will be notified prior to the change. The District shall post a notice alerting staff, parents, students and visitors that there is video surveillance. At minimum, such notice shall be posted in at least one central location outside of each school within the District and inside both the main entrance and the primary activities/athletics entrance of each campus. The AEA will be notified by the District any time a FOIA or FERPA request for security camera footage involving one or more member(s) is granted. In such circumstances, the member(s) addressed within the FOIA or FERPA request, as well as a designated representative from the AEA, shall be permitted to view the portion of the surveillance video shared with the individual or entity who made the FOIA or FERPA request. The FOIA officer shall also share the general nature of the granted FOIA or FERPA request with the member(s) and AEA designee. Both the nature of the granted FOIA or FERPA request and the corresponding surveillance video shall be made available to the teacher(s) subject within the FOIA and FERPA request and to the AEA designee as soon as possible...

However, as a safety precaution, renters understand and accept that the perimeter of the property could be protected with outside security cameras. These cameras are used to protect the property from potential theft. There are NO cameras inside the house. On the date of drafting of this contract, November 10Th, 2014, no device is installed so far on the property.
