Vacation Usage and Approval. The time during the calendar year at which an employee may take vacation shall be determined by the department head with due consideration given to the wishes of the employee and with particular regard for the needs of the City. Employees may not utilize vacation during the first six months of employment. An employee wishing to schedule a vacation in excess of ten working days must request approval of the City Manager or his/her designee at least ten (10) working days prior to the vacation time requested. The employee will receive a response within 5 working days of submittal. Vacation time, or any requested leave time requiring any combination of vacation, administrative leave, comp time, or holiday time which is in excess of ten consecutive working days, shall be granted based on the City's ability to provide adequate service coverage during the employee's absence. Employees may be approved for vacation requests in amounts less than one working day. Written requests for time off shall be answered in writing, with a stated reason for any vacation request which is denied. Requests for time off will not be unreasonably denied.

An employee wishing to schedule a vacation in excess of four (4) shifts must request approval of the Fire Chief at least ten (10) working days prior to the vacation time requested. The employee will receive a response within five (5) working days of submittal. Vacation time, or any requested leave time requiring any combination of vacation, administrative leave, comp time, or holiday time which is in excess of four (4) shifts, shall be granted based on the City's ability to provide adequate service coverage during the employee's absence.   • Vacation Usage Each department or agency head shall be responsible for scheduling the vacation periods of their employees in such a manner as to achieve the most efficient functioning of the department or agency and the County service. The granting of a vacation period less than the employee's annual entitlement is to be discouraged so that the full benefit of the vacation plan can be realized by each employee. The appointing authority shall determine when vacations will be taken.

  • Prime Time Vacation Period Subject to the provisions of this article, it is the intent of the parties that no employee will be restricted in the time of year they choose to take their vacation.   • Vacation Period ‌ The choice of vacation periods shall be granted to employees on the basis of seniority with the Employer except where the period requested would be detrimental to the operation of the Employer.

  • Vacation Pay on Termination An employee whose employment is terminated shall receive vacation pay at the appropriate percentage of the wages or salary earned during the period of entitlement in accordance with the employee's years of service.

  • Holiday Falling on a Scheduled Workday An employee who works on a designated holiday which is a scheduled workday shall be compensated at the rate of double-time for hours worked, plus a day off in lieu of the holiday; except for Christmas and New Year's when the compensation shall be at the rate of double-time and one-half for hours worked, plus a day off in lieu of the holiday.
