Vacation Use Sample Clauses

Vacation Use. Vacation leave balances shall be reduced for actual time not worked to the nearest quarter hour. Absences may not be charged to vacation not already accumulated.
Vacation UseAn employee shall be entitled to use his/her accumulated paid sick leave in lieu of vacation for illness or injury received while on vacation, upon application approved by the Police Chief and subject to substantiation as hereinafter provided.
Vacation Use. (a) Vacation credits may be used in such units of time as the appointing authority may approve, but the appointing authority shall not require that vacation credits be used in units greater than one-quarter hour. This provision shall not supersede any local arrangements which provide for liquidation in smaller units of time. (b) An employee’s properly submitted written request for use of accrued vacation credits shall be answered within five working days of receipt. If an employee’s properly submitted request for use of accrued vacation credits is denied or cancelled, the employee shall receive, upon written request, a written statement of the reasons for such denial or cancellation. Such written statement of the reasons for such denial or cancellation shall be provided within three working days of receipt of the written request for it.
Vacation Use. Vacation shall be used at the employee's request with prior approval from the supervisor. Vacation days shall be deemed used in the order in which they are earned.
Vacation UseVacation leave hours shall not be used during the pay period in which the hours are accrued.
Vacation Use a. Consistent with the requirements of the department as determined by the appointing authority, accrued vacation time may be taken by each employee. An employee who separates or is terminated from County service or who takes military leave in excess of one hundred eighty (180) days shall be paid the monetary value of his/her full terminal vacation. The procedures set forth in Subsection c. and d. below shall not apply to any employee until six (6) months after his/her date of hire. b. Whenever possible, vacations shall be granted at the time requested by the employee. In order to avoid undue disruption of work activities or to minimize conflicts with other employees' vacations, the appointing authority may place reasonable seasonal or other restrictions on the use of vacation. c. Supervisors shall prepare for their organizational units a schedule of available vacation periods based on efficient staffing of the unit in relation to estimated workload. Each employee shall indicate by order of preference the vacation period(s) desired. If an employee requests that his/her vacation be taken in two (2) or more non- continuous vacation periods, his/her seniority within current classifications shall apply to his/her first choice of vacation periods requested. Seniority shall also apply to second and subsequent choices in determinations involving employees' second and subsequent choices. Seniority shall be exercised only once by each employee in each successive choice of vacation periods. d. The supervisors shall review these requests, resolve any conflict in favor of an employee with the greater seniority within current classification, and recommend the completed schedule to the appointing authority or his/her designee. After the vacation schedule has been approved by the appointing authority, an employee promoted into or transferred into a unit may not "bump" another employee's previously scheduled vacation period without the employee's consent. e. Employees can “cash-in” up to forty (40) hours/year vacation after ten (10) years of full-time continuous service and 240 hours accrued vacation per the terms of County policy 306 “Cash for Accrued Vacation Leave”.
Vacation Use. All vacations will be chosen within bureaus on the basis of rank and seniority. Seniority is defined as "date of appointment to rank." (GO 202) The Department is responsible for scheduling the vacations of City personnel so that the vacation absenteeism does not interfere with productivity. (AP II-16) Employees may utilize their accrued vacation time in minimum increments of one hour subject to prior approval of the Police Chief.
Vacation Use a. Vacation should be taken during the same year as it is accrued. It may be taken before it is actually accrued, up to the annual accrual, but in the event that vacation is taken but is unearned, and the employee leaves the employment of the district before the amount taken is earned, the amount of unearned vacation taken shall be deducted from the employee's final pay. b. At the building level the vacation schedule will be agreed to by the principal and principal’s secretary, annually, per building. The schedule may include differentiated starting and ending dates, to coordinate the attendance at the building of the principal and secretary, on non-student attendance days. The provisions of Article VI(A)(6) will control in the event the principal and secretary cannot agree on a vacation schedule. c. For eleven-month employees, ten (10) days of the annual vacation entitlement, regardless of the years of experience, shall be taken during scheduled winter and spring break time when school is "out of session". Other days in excess of ten (10) may be taken at any time as approved by the employee's supervisor, and as attested by the submission of vacation request forms. Said approval may not be unreasonably denied. d. For twelve (12) month employees, vacation may be taken at any time with the prior approval of the supervisor. Said approval may not be unreasonably denied. (1) Should an employee's request be denied and the employee is unable to take vacation at his/her requested time, said employee will be compensated for the vacation days denied if the days are not taken at any other time during the employee's personal contract year, or: (2) At the employee's option, in lieu of cashing in the unused vacation, an employee may carry over up to sixty (60) days of unused vacation and may cash them out at time of severance, or apply those days against any days owed--if any.
Vacation Use. No employee will have a vacation balance greater than 280 hours. This 280 hour cap will be enforced twice per year: for the January pay warrant and the July pay warrant. Vacation may not be taken prior to its accrual. Requests for vacation from employees who work 260 days per year will not be unreasonably denied. Disputes under this section may be taken to the Association President for resolution at Labor Management.
Vacation UseEmployees who are terminating their employment for reasons other than paid Court retirement shall not use the date they exhaust accrued leave balances as their termination date unless otherwise pre-approved.
