Vacation Usage. Each department or agency head shall be responsible for scheduling the vacation periods of their employees in such a manner as to achieve the most efficient functioning of the department or agency and the County service. The granting of a vacation period less than the employee's annual entitlement is to be discouraged so that the full benefit of the vacation plan can be realized by each employee. The appointing authority shall determine when vacations will be taken.
Vacation Usage. A vacation day shall not be charged should a designated holiday fall during an employee’s scheduled vacation period.
Vacation Usage. A newly hired City employee may begin to use accrued vacation during his/her probationary period in the first three (3) months of employment with approval of the City Manager, and as approved by the employee’s supervisor thereafter.
Vacation Usage. A. Employees are encouraged to take their vacations in the following manner:
1. Employees with two (2) weeks vacation – Employees entitled to two (2) weeks vacation take at least one (1) week of their vacation in consecutive days.
2. Employees with three (3) weeks vacation - Employees entitled to three (3) weeks vacation take at least two (2) weeks of their vacation in consecutive days.
3. Employees with Four (4)
Vacation Usage. The Fire Chief shall determine when vacations will be taken.
Vacation Usage. A. In the case of employees who work a scheduled academic year that is less than a full calendar year, vacation accruals shall be used by the employee during official school breaks. With the approval of the Appointing Authority, vacation days may be scheduled for the aforementioned employees during the normal academic year where teacher/pupil contact time is required. Unused vacation accrual shall normally be paid in cash at the end of the academic school year unless a carry-over is mutually agreed to by the Appointing Authority and the employee.
B. If an employee becomes ill or disabled while on vacation leave, such leave shall be changed to sick leave effective the date of the illness or disability, upon notice to the employee's Appointing Authority and provided the vacation leave is applicable to scheduled hours of work.
C. Except for employees who separate from State service prior to the completion of six (6) months of continuous service, an employee who is separated from State service by layoff, resignation, death, or otherwise, shall be paid for the number of hours of unused vacation leave accumulated to the employee’s credit up to a maximum of two hundred sixty (260) hours.
D. An employee who is transferred or accepts employment under the jurisdiction of a new Appointing Authority, or in the unclassified service of the state, or an unclassified employee who transfers to the classified service, without interruption of service to the state shall be permitted to transfer accumulated unused vacation leave.
Vacation Usage. Vacation may be taken upon request by the employee and approval of the supervisor and 28 must be reported in the electronic absence reporting system.
Vacation Usage. A. Vacation may only be taken with approval of the division director or section manager. District staffing needs are to take precedence. Subject to such priorities, granting of vacation shall not be unreasonably withheld. Absences not specifically covered by the provisions of this Agreement may be chargeable to vacation after approval of the division director or section manager to the extent that vacation has been accrued.
B. An employee may request vacation up to six (6) months in advance of the requested date(s). Barring any specific staffing conflicts, such leave requests shall be approved or denied and returned within 14 calendar days of submission. Employees within the workgroup shall be given preference in being scheduled based upon date of submission and District seniority. This means that the first person submitting a vacation request on a calendar day shall be given preference, unless a person in the same classification with greater District seniority submits a request within the same calendar day.
C. An employee desiring to use accrued vacation time may request approval at any time. Leave requests should be submitted in person to the employee's supervisor.
D. Vacation leave requests surrounding major holidays will be approved on a rotational basis within a work group or department when necessary to provide equal opportunities for all staff.
Vacation Usage. With advance approval by the immediate supervisor, vacation may be used to attend to emergency personal business. If advance notice and approval is not possible, approval may be given by the immediate supervisor after the fact.
