Work Station Visitation. The District will make a reasonable effort to afford an opportunity for the teacher to confer with the classroom visitor before and/or after the visitation. All unannounced visitors shall be reported to the principal's office. Requests from parents or others to take students from classes must be authorized by the superintendent or his/her designee. No special limitations shall be placed upon study, investigation, presenting and interpreting facts and ideas concerning branches of learning provided that the employee adheres to the curriculum rules and written policy established by the District. These responsibilities include a commitment to democratic tradition, a concern of the welfare, growth and development of children, for an insistence upon objective scholarship. No mechanical or electronic device shall be installed in any classroom or brought in on a temporary basis by means of which a person shall be able to listen to or record the procedures in any class without the employee's knowledge and written permission. As a vital component of academic freedom, teachers shall be primarily responsible for decisions regarding the methods and materials used for the instruction of students: provided, however, that such decisions are in keeping with curriculum guidelines, state and national standards, and written policy established by the District.
Work Station Visitation. 1. The employees and the District recognize that the Port Xxxxxxxx Schools belong to the citizens of the Port Xxxxxxxx School District and jointly encourage parents and citizens to visit our schools, our school activities and our classrooms.
2. To facilitate classroom visitation and provide for as little interruption to the teaching/learning process, classroom visitors must follow these procedures:
a. All visitors who wish to visit a classroom while it is in session must obtain the approval of the principal or his/her representative.
b. Approved visitors will sign a log for visitors and will be provided a 'Visitor' pin to wear.
c. Visitors should enter the classroom quietly, not expect the teacher to recognize them, find a seat, and not stay longer than forty minutes. The 'Visitor' pin should be returned to the principal's office.
d. Persons who arrive at a classroom without a 'Visitor' pin will not be admitted.
e. The principal will not approve those persons as visitors who have previously not abided by Paragraph C.
f. Unless visitors are invited guests of the teacher, the principal will facilitate no more than one visitor per day into a classroom.
g. The building principal/assistant principal, the Superintendent and members of the Board are not considered visitors and are encouraged to drop into classrooms as often as possible.
h. Other school district personnel upon consultation with the teacher are also encouraged to drop into classrooms.
Work Station Visitation. 17 To provide patrons of the District the opportunity to visit classroom work stations with the least 18 interruption to the teaching process, the following guidelines are set forth: 19

1. All visitors to a school and/or classroom workstation shall obtain the approval of the principal prior to the visit. If the visit is to a classroom, the time will be arranged after the principal has conferred with the employee and a date/time has been mutually agreed upon.
2. The employee shall be afforded the opportunity to confer with the classroom visitor before and/or after the visitation at his/her option.
Work Station Visitation. Parents and patrons of the District are and shall be welcome to visit classroom work stations in the District. In the interest of protecting students and the orderly educational process during regular school hours, all visitors shall report upon arrival to the building principal’s office and whenever possible, arrangements should be made in advance with the teacher. The teacher shall be provided an opportunity to speak with the visitor before and after the classroom visitation, provided that if the patron fails to so meet with the teacher, the District incurs no liability.
Work Station Visitation. 23 To provide patrons of the District the opportunity to visit classroom work stations with the least 24 interruption to the teaching process, the following guidelines are set forth: 25

All visitors to a school shall obtain the approval of the building administration at least two (2) 27 days in advance of the visit, unless otherwise agreed by the teacher or unless the principal 28 determines that an exceptional circumstance requires earlier approval. The administration shall 29 notify the staff when such a visit is scheduled. 30
31 B. Visits to classrooms shall be scheduled only after the building administration has conferred with 32 the employee involved. 33
34 C. If, at the determination of the building administrator and the employee, a particular observation 35 is disruptive to the building or the classroom or the observation should not take place, it shall be 36 terminated. 37
38 D. The purpose of visits shall be for observation. 39
40 E. The employee shall have the opportunity to confer with the classroom observer before and/or 41 after the scheduled visit. 42

This requirement will be posted at each open door of each school building. If the visit is to a classroom the time will be arranged after the principal and the teacher have conferred. No recording of any classroom presentation will be made except with the approval of the teacher. Parents and other visitors will not be allowed to disrupt the instruction of students.
B. The principal will attempt to afford the teacher an opportunity to confer with the classroom visitor before and/or after the visitation.
C. If visitors arrive unannounced, the teacher shall immediately notify the principal.
