Informal Step definition

Informal Step. An employee shall discuss a complaint or problem orally with his/her immediate supervisor or his designated representative within ten (10) days following its occurrence in an effort to resolve the problem in an informal manner.

More Definitions of Informal Step

Informal Step. A bargaining unit member who believes that they may have a grievance shall meet with the bargaining unit member’s identified immediate supervisor or designee in a good faith attempt to resolve the grievance. The informal resolution of a grievance shall be consistent with the terms of this Agreement.
Informal Step. The aggrieved employee shall meet with the City non-bargaining unit supervisor at the lowest level capable of resolving the grievance and shall orally discuss the grievance within five (5) working days of when the Grievant knew or should have known of the event giving rise to the grievance. If the individual to whom the grievance has been presented orally lacks the authority to resolve the grievance, he or she shall refer the Grievant to the appropriate management official. The official shall make a decision and orally communicate it to the Grievant within five (5) working days of presentation of the grievance. Only individual, and not class grievances are subject to the Informal Step. The failure of an employee to present a grievance at the informal step shall not be a basis for denial if the grievance is timely presented at Step 1.

The Supervisor shall have ten (10) school days following the meeting in which to provide his/her written memorandum setting forth the disposition of the grievance to the grievant and the Association. Such memorandum shall contain the reasons upon which the disposition of the grievance is based.
