Volunteers and student workers will not supervise bargaining unit employees. A volunteer is a person who donates labor to another by their own free choice. Generally, the volunteer doesn’t receive anything of value in exchange for the service—not money, trade of products or services, or anything else of monetary value. WAC 000-00-000: Which student employees of higher education employers are exempt from civil service rules? (1) Students who are participating in a documented and approved internship program which consists of an academic component and work experience are exempt. (2) Students who are employed through the state or federal work/study programs are exempt. (3) Students are exempt if they are employed by the institution at which they are enrolled (or by a related board) and meet any one of the following conditions: (a) The student works five hundred sixteen hours or less (516 or less) in any six consecutive months. Hours worked in a temporary position(s) during the summer and other breaks in the academic year are not counted in the five hundred sixteen (516) hours. The position is exempt only if the student does not take the place of a classified employee who was laid off due to lack of funds or lack of work, and the student does not fill a position that is currently or was formerly occupied by a classified employee during the current or prior calendar or fiscal year, whichever is longer. (b) The student in employed in a position directly related to his/her major field of study to provide a training opportunity; or (c) The student is elected or appointed to a student body office or student organization position such as student officers or student news staff members.

Volunteers and student workers will not supervise bargaining unit employees. There may be occasion where a non-TCC employee such as a visiting fellow or professional partner, may direct the work of the employee. This non-TCC employee will not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Related to VOLUNTEERS AND STUDENT WORKERS

  • Volunteers The use of volunteers to perform bargaining unit work, as covered by this agreement, shall not be expanded beyond the extent of existing practice as of June 1, 1986. The Hospital shall submit to the Union, at three (3) month intervals, the number of volunteers for the current month and the number of hours worked and the duties performed.

  • Independent Contractor; Workers’ Compensation Insurance The Contractor is performing as an independent entity under this Contract. No part of this Contract shall be construed to represent the creation of an employment, agency, partnership or joint venture agreement between the parties. Neither party will assume liability for any injury (including death) to any persons, or damage to any property, arising out of the acts or omissions of the agents, employees or subcontractors of the other party. The Contractor shall provide all necessary unemployment and workers’ compensation insurance for the Contractor’s employees, and shall provide the State with a Certificate of Insurance evidencing such coverage prior to starting work under this Contract.

  • Orientation The Employer shall provide planned and paid Orientation Programs of such content and duration as it deems appropriate taking into consideration the needs of the Employer and the Nurses involved. Such Nurses will not be considered part of core staffing during their Orientation Program nor will they be provided with primary assignments.

  • Contractor Key Personnel ‌ The Contractor shall assign a Corporate OASIS SB Program Manager (COPM) and Corporate OASIS SB Contract Manager (COCM) as Contractor Key Personnel to represent the Contractor as primary points-of-contact to resolve issues, perform administrative duties, and other functions that may arise relating to OASIS SB and task orders solicited and awarded under OASIS SB. Additional Key Personnel requirements may be designated by the OCO at the task order level. There is no minimum qualification requirements established for Contractor Key Personnel. Additionally, Contractor Key Personnel do not have to be full-time positions; however, the Contractor Key Personnel are expected to be fully proficient in the performance of their duties. The Contractor shall ensure that the OASIS SB CO has current point-of-contact information for both the COPM and COCM. In the event of a change to Contractor Key Personnel, the Contractor shall notify the OASIS SB CO and provide all Point of Contact information for the new Key Personnel within 5 calendar days of the change. All costs associated with Contractor Key Personnel duties shall be handled in accordance with the Contractor’s standard accounting practices; however, no costs for Contractor Key Personnel may be billed to the OASIS Program Office. Failure of Contractor Key Personnel to effectively and efficiently perform their duties will be construed as conduct detrimental to contract performance and may result in activation of Dormant Status and/or Off-Ramping (See Sections H.16. and H.17.).
