As undergraduates, Access to Southampton students will be offered additional support to ensure retention. By developing our Access to Southampton scheme into a national programme we are able to support students from outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight through aspiration raising events promoting to higher education in general, and with online resources, e-mentoring, visits, taster days to the University of Southampton, encouraging geographic as well as social mobility; a particular difficulty faced by highly selective universities when recruiting from under-represented groups.
