Advanced Life Support. The parties agree that the Township shall maintain an Advanced Life Support Program with Echo Units, effective October 25, 2004. It is understood that the discretion to deploy manpower and equipment shall be with the Township. Employees hired after April 1, 2010 must maintain paramedics license as a condition of employment with the Department.
Advanced Life Support. Level 1 (ALS) is the transportation by ground ambulance vehicle and the provision of medically necessary supplies and services including the provision of an ALS assessment or at least one ALS intervention. An ALS assessment charge is only relevant and reimbursable in an emergency response, which will not be administered by the Contractor. An advanced life support (ALS) intervention is a procedure that is in accordance with State and local laws, required to be done by an advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT) or Paramedic. The ambulance service and personnel shall comply with all relevant Rhode Island General Laws and Rhode Island Department of Health Regulations, including, but not limited to, the minimal vehicle standards and staffing requirements. Advanced Life Support services are those performed by personnel certified in Rhode Island as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or a Paramedic.
Advanced Life Support. (ALS). Out-of-hospital care that uses invasive medical acts (as defined in Tex. Health and Safety Code § 773.003(1)).
Advanced Life Support. Facility shall pay Transporter [ALS Rate] per one way trip.
Advanced Life Support. A. Employees in the ranks of Captain, Lieutenant and Fire Fighter shall be offered the opportunity for training and assignment to the ALS duty on the basis of seniority. Once an employee successfully completes training and is assigned to ALS, they must remain in that duty for at least three (3) years. Employees who wish to transfer into another division after their three (3) years must request so in writing at least six (6) months in advance of their desired transfer date. The Department will make every reasonable effort to replace the individual making the request. Employees will not be eligible to enroll in training for the ALS duty after their 22nd anniversary date.
B. Those employees assigned to the Extinguishment Division who are licensed paramedics, excluding Battalion Chiefs and Fire Equipment Operators (FEO’s), shall be paid an additional five (5%) percent above their base rate.
C. Each of the City's five stations will be outfitted with an advanced life support equipped engine, staffed with four fire personnel consisting of an officer, fire equipment operator and two fire fighters. Two of those fire personnel will be ALS certified not including the operator. The City will also operate one ladder truck with one officer and one fire equipment operator, and one heavy rescue unit with one officer and one fire equipment operator, and one Battalion Chief. Each battalion will be staffed with a minimum of twenty-five employees on active duty.

C. There will be a minimum of 3 personnel on an Engine Company when that Engine Company is in service, with at least two of those personnel being licensed and paid paramedics. Further one shall be an officer and a different one shall be a FEO/Cross Trained Driver. There will be a minimum of 3 personnel on a Rescue Company when that Rescue Company is in service, with at least two of those personnel being licensed and paid paramedics. Further one shall be an officer and a different one shall be a FEO/Cross Trained Driver. There will be a minimum of 2 personnel on a Truck Company when that Truck Company is in service. Further one shall be an officer and a different one shall be a FEO/Cross Trained Driver. In the rare situation when there are not enough employees trained as an FEO, the senior Sergeant or Firefighter will be used to drive. There will be at least one Battalion Chief on duty at all times *The staffing of the Rescue Company to three will take effect as quickly as possible following the signing of this agreement, not to exceed December 1, 2015.
Advanced Life Support. The City intends to maintain Advanced Life Support (ALS) capability through assignment of one Alameda County certified Paramedic to each Engine Company every day. Daily business and accompanying on transport may require a temporary absence of an Alameda County certified Paramedic. Call back/reassignment will only occur when, in the opinion of the Deputy Chief, service levels will be compromised by the paramedic's absence.
