Animal Welfare. The proper care and welfare of all animals on Farms is extremely important to ACM and it takes any incident relating to animal welfare very seriously. ACM expects Suppliers to comply with industry standards in relation to animal welfare. These were originally released in September 2014 following an extended period of consultation with relevant stakeholders (“Animal Welfare Standards”) and maybe updated from time to time. Animal Welfare Standards are available from Dairy Australia and can be downloaded from its website (xxxx://xxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xx). They are also available from ACM upon request. Animal Welfare Standards comprehensive cover various aspects of animal welfare including: • feed and water • risk management of extreme weather, natural disasters, disease, injury and predation • facilities and equipment • handling and management • castration, dehorning and spaying • tail docking • breeding management • calf-rearing systems • dairy management • beef feedlots • euthanasia Also included in Animal Welfare Standards which Suppliers are expected to comply with are the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines – Land Transport of Livestock (xxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xx ) which have been implemented into state legislation with the aim of protecting the welfare of animals being transported and providing consistent regulation around Australia. Any failure by Supplier to comply with Animal Welfare Standards constitutes a breach of this Milk Supply Agreement. Any reported instance of non-compliance with Animal Welfare Standards will be fully investigated by ACM. Depending on the outcome of that investigation, ACM may provide support to Supplier ensure compliance, report the incident to the regulator and/or terminate the Supplier’s Milk Supply Agreement. If Supplier requires guidance or assistance about applicable Animal Welfare Standards, they can contact ACM for assistance. Animal Welfare. The Parties also reaffirm the importance of maintaining their mutual understanding and cooperation on animal welfare matters, and will continue to share information and cooperate within the Animal Welfare Cooperation Forum of the European Commission and the competent authorities of New Zealand and to work closely together in the OIE on these matters.

Animal Welfare a. Any awardee performing research on vertebrate animals6 shall comply with the Animal Welfare Act [7 USC § 2131 et seq.] and the regulations promulgated thereunder by the Secretary of Agriculture [9 CFR §§ 1.1-4.11] pertaining to the humane care, handling treatment of vertebrate animals held or used for research, teaching or other activities supported by Federal awards. The awardee is expected to ensure that the guidelines described in the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) Publication, “Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” are followed and to comply with the Public Health Service Policy and Government Principles Regarding the Care and Use of Animals (included as Appendix D to the NASEM Guide). Further guidance on the use of vertebrate animals in NSF funded projects can be found in PAPPG Chapter XI.B.3. b. Effective October 1, 2015, awardees must include NSF-supported activities with live vertebrate animals as covered activities in their Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) Animal Welfare Assurance. Further, they must promptly report situations involving NSF- supported animal activities to OLAW as required by the Public Health Service (PHS) Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (xxxx://xxxxxx.xxx.xxx/grants/olaw/references/phspol.htm) Section IV.F.3. The cognizant NSF Program Officer also should be notified. c. Any changes to, or lapses in, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee approved animal use protocols associated with an NSF award should be reported promptly by the awardee to the cognizant NSF Program Officer. d. In the event the awardee’s multi-project Assurance is cancelled or lapses, the awardee must immediately notify the cognizant NSF Grants and Agreements Officer(s) identified in the award notice. Research facilities subject to the Animal Welfare Act using or intending to use live animals in research and who receive Federal funding are required to register the facility with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), US Department of Agriculture. The location of the nearest APHIS Regional Office, as well as information concerning this and other APHIS activities, may be obtained at xxxx://xxx.xxxxx.xxxx.xxx/.

Animal Welfare. Brownes may terminate this agreement if it reasonably forms the view, the view being in accordance with Dairy Australia’s Animal Welfare recommendations that the Supplier is failing or has failed to follow acceptable animal welfare practices.
Animal Welfare. The Parties agree that animal welfare is considered an important issue for ethical reasons as well as for the sake of quality of studies. In case the Projects comprise in vivo testing, the Parties agree to apply customary standards of animal care. Bayer represents and warrants to follow all relevant local as well as European animal welfare regulations. Recursion represents and warrants that it holds a valid accreditation of the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) and that it will comply with all applicable standards AAALAC imposes on its accredited organizations and will promptly notify Bayer in the event of any debarment, conviction, or indictment related to its compliance to the AAALAC standards.
Animal Welfare. The Parties agree to cooperate on animal welfare as necessary, including technical assistance and capacity building for the development of animal welfare standards. For the purpose of this Article they shall consult the Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures established pursuant to Article 17.2 (Specialised Committees).
