Common use of Application of Overtime Clause in Contracts

Application of Overtime. An employee who is requested by the Employer to work additional time beyond seven and one half (7-1/2) hours per day, except as set out in 20.02 (b), will be entitled to: ● time and one-half of their basic hourly rate of pay for the first three (3) hours of overtime and double-time (2x) thereafter. An employee who is requested by the Employer to work additional time beyond thirty-seven and one half (37-1/2) hours per week, except as set out in 20.02 (b), will be entitled to: ● time and one-half for the first seven and one half (7-1/2) hours per week and double time (2x) thereafter. Overtime hours paid for on a daily basis will not be used in the calculation of weekly hours.

An employee who is requested by the Employer to work additional time beyond thirty-seven and one seven-and-one-half (37-1/237½) hours per week, except as set out in 20.02 (b), will be entitled to: ● time and time-and-one-half (1½) for the first seven and one seven-and-one-half (7-1/27½) hours per week and double double-time (2x) thereafter. Overtime hours paid for on a daily basis will not be used in the calculation of weekly hours.
