BREAKS & MEAL PERIOD. All drivers shall have the right for one (1) thirty (30) paid meal break during each 8-hour shift. In addition, all drivers shall have the right to take two-ten-minute rest breaks for each 8 hours worked. All drivers will take breaks in a manner that does not disrupt customer service. Drivers have the right to waive their meal period. The Employer shall relinquish control over the employee's duties and permit a reasonable opportunity for an uninterrupted 30-minute paid meal period. The first meal period shall take place after no more than 5 hours of work and a second meal period after no more than 10 hours of work. The normal work day of 8 hours shall be inclusive of the 30-minute paid meal break and two-10-minute paid rest breaks. All drivers shall have the right to refuse work while on either their paid meal break or paid rest break (s). Meal and break periods may not be combined nor used at the end of the shift.
BREAKS & MEAL PERIOD. All drivers shall have the right for one (1) twenty-five (25) minute paid break during each 8-hour shift. All drivers will take breaks in a manner that does not disrupt customer service. Road drivers should take breaks that coincide with stops necessary for fueling, for wait-time, or with time spent stopped for passengers to eat/shop. If a driver is unable to take a break during one of these periods, the road driver should take a break after the crew is dropped and must send a “shop/eat” message so that dispatch is aware that you are on break and will not assign you to a trip. Under no circumstances will this section be used to allow a driver to take a break at the end of a trip or shift before going off duty. In California rules are set out in Memoranda.

The 12-hour Shuttle, radius and yard driver shifts shall be afforded all meal and break period rights under this contract.

  • Meal Period A Contractor shall schedule an unpaid period of not more than 1/2 hour duration at the work location between the 3rd and 5th hour of the scheduled shift. A Contractor may, for efficiency of operation, establish a schedule which coordinates the meal periods of two or more crafts. If an employee is required to work through the meal period, the employee shall be compensated in a manner established in the applicable Schedule A.

  • Break Period All employees working in full time (7 or 7.5 hour) positions shall be permitted a fifteen (15) minute rest period both in the first half and the second half of a shift.

  • Overtime-Eligible Unpaid Meal Periods ‌ The Employer and the Union agree to unpaid meal periods that vary from and supersede the unpaid meal period requirements of WAC 000-000-000. Unpaid meal periods for employees working more than five (5) consecutive hours, if entitled, will be a minimum of thirty (30) minutes and will be scheduled as close to the middle of the work shift as possible. Employees working three (3) or more hours longer than a normal workday will be allowed an additional thirty (30) minute unpaid meal period. When an employee’s unpaid meal period is interrupted by work duties, the employee will be allowed to resume their unpaid meal period following the interruption, if possible, to complete the unpaid meal period. In the event an employee is unable to complete the unpaid meal period due to operational necessity, the employee will be entitled to compensation, which will be computed based on the actual number of minutes worked within the unpaid meal period. Meal periods may not be used for late arrival or early departure from work and meal and rest periods will not be combined.

  • Breaks in Service An employee’s seniority record shall be broken by voluntary resignation, discharge, reduction in force, or retirement. Should an employee laid off return to work within one year, the seniority will pick up from the date of return. Seniority rights will be forfeited if a continuous period of layoff exceeds one year. Should an employee leave his/her assignment in this bargaining unit for another position with the district, the seniority will be frozen. Should an employee return to this bargaining unit, seniority shall continue from the seniority level previously attained.

  • Unpaid Leave - After Three Years For every three (3) years' continuous service, an employee may request, in writing, an extended unpaid leave of absence, giving the longest possible advance notice. Every reasonable effort shall be made to comply with such requests providing that replacements to ensure proper operation of the Employer's business can be found. Notice of the Employer's decision shall be in writing.

  • Leave Year The leave year begins with the first full payroll period of a calendar year and ends with the payroll period in which December 31st falls.

  • Meal Periods (a) Meal periods shall be scheduled as closely as possible to the middle of the workday. The length of the meal period shall be not less than thirty (30) minutes and not more than sixty (60) minutes.

  • Probation Period It is understood and agreed that the first ninety days of employment shall constitute a probationary period during which period the Employer may, in its absolute discretion, terminate the Employee's employment, for any reason without notice or cause.

  • Break in Service No absence under any paid leave provisions of this Article shall be considered as a break in service for any employee who is in paid status, and all benefits accruing under the provisions of this Agreement shall continue to accrue under such absence.
