Meal and Break Periods. The unpaid meal period shall be thirty (30) minutes. If a represented employee does not receive this thirty (30) minute meal period, he/she may be relieved at the end of eight (8) hours. If the employee’s work day is not shortened (ie: if he/she works eight and one-half (8½) hours), he/she shall be compensated under the CBA for one-half (½) hour at time-and-a half (ie: paid for 45 minutes). Two 10 (ten) minute breaks shall continue to be provided for each full-time shift.
Meal and Break Periods. The regularly scheduled workweek for classified members shall consist of consecutive hours at work, with not less than thirty (30) minutes of unpaid lunch for six and one-half (6.5) to eight (8.0) hour members. Unless approved by the immediate supervisor, lunch/break periods shall not be used to arrive to work late and/or leave work prior to the employee’s scheduled end time.

17.1 The following provisions of this Article may be modified at the request of two-thirds (⅔) majority of the employees concerned. Such modifications shall require management approval and prior to implementation, approval of the Union at the National Level.
17.1.1 No meal or break period shall be scheduled during the first hour of the day of work.
Meal and Break Periods. 17.1 Employees shall take rest periods at a time not inconvenient to the operation of the work area and consistent with the following:
a) two paid fifteen (15) minute rest periods during their tour of duty;
b) the rest periods shall not form part of meal periods;
c) on an extension of shift an employee will not be required to work more than three (3) hours without a rest period being taken;
d) if the Company requires an employee to work through all or a portion of his rest period, then that amount of time will be added to the end of his shift as time worked;
e) it is understood that rest periods will be arranged as mutually agreed between the employee and the Company.
17.2 To tours of duty beginning after 06:00 hours (6AM) and before 17:00 hours (5PM), a first unpaid meal period of one (1) hour's duration will be scheduled. It is understood that the assignment of this meal period shall, where possible, be mutually agreed between the employee and the Company provided that said meal period is not unreasonably withheld.
17.2.1 To all other tours of duty, a thirty (30) minute unpaid meal period shall be scheduled. It is understood that the assignment of this meal period will be flexible provided that said meal period is not unreasonably withheld. Notwithstanding Article 17.1, this meal period will comprise the two break periods.
17.2.2 Notwithstanding Article 17.2, technicians who are assigned to work shifts on weekends or paid holidays will be assigned a meal period as per Article 17.2.1.
17.2.3 Employees shall not be required to work at any job function during their meal periods and shall be free to leave the premises, except in the case technicians who are assigned to work nights, weekend shifts or paid holidays.
17.3 Second Meal Period When an employee is required to work more than one and one-half (1 1/2) hours which is continuous to the original tour of duty, the employee is entitled to a second meal period of not less than thirty (30) minutes which shall be taken by the employee so as not to interfere with the efficient operation of the Company.
17.3.1 Eight dollars ($8.00) shall be paid to compensate for the cost of this second meal.
17.4 If an employee works more than four (4) hours beyond a second meal or subsequent meal period, he shall be assigned a subsequent meal period of not less than thirty (30) minutes which shall be taken by the employee so as not to interfere with the efficient operation of the Company.

Meal and Break Periods. 16.01 For each Shift of at least 5 hours up to 8 hours, an Employee will be entitled to a 30-minute meal period. For each Shift in excess of 8 hours, an Employee will be entitled to a 60-minute meal period and a 30-minute meal period.
16.02 Meal periods may be taken at times preferred by the Employee, subject to the approval of their Supervisor.
16.03 In the event operational requirements, as determined by the Employer, prevent an Employee from taking a meal period to which they are entitled, they will be entitled to a payment in lieu, paid at straight time.
Meal and Break Periods. 1. Whenever any employee is called to work four or more hours prior to the beginning of the shift, the employee shall normally be given a ten-minute rest period before starting said employee’s regular shift.
2. Exceptions may be made with respect to when and for how long such rest periods will be permitted where work operations, including the handling and operation of equipment and machines, are of such a nature that the work needs to be continued without interruption. Under these conditions the supervisor should allow an employee a ten-minute rest period during the work period outside the shift.
Meal and Break Periods. (a) Employees scheduled for an 8-hour work day will receive a 30-minute unpaid lunch period and 2 paid break periods of 15 minutes each.
(b) Employees scheduled for a work day of less than 8 hours will receive a paid 15-minute break period for each 4 hours worked and one 30-minute unpaid meal break for all shifts in excess of 5 hours.
(c) Employees scheduled for a work day of 8 hours who are then required to work 2 hours of overtime or more shall receive an additional unpaid meal period of 30 minutes. In addition, such Employees are entitled to reimbursement for the cost of a meal in accordance with University Policy.
(d) Meal and break periods are subject to the work needs of the department and schedules shall be mutually agreed to where possible and are subject to change based on the work needs of the department. Break periods worked shall not be calculated as overtime nor can they be banked to accumulate paid time off.
(e) Where an Employee is required by her Supervisor to work through her break, the Employee will be given either pay or time off in lieu in accordance with Articles 15.07 and 15.08.
