Casual Employees - Health and Welfare Coverage. All casual employees who have completed 180 hours with the Employer shall receive 53¢ per hour in lieu of benefits. The employee may then choose to obtain benefits by purchasing them through the Employer’s plan or through different means.

Casual Employees - Health and Welfare Coverage. Casual employees who have completed three (3) calendar months of service for the Employer may elect to enroll in the benefit plans provided by the Employer to Regular employees, providing that this election is made prior to completion of the three (3) calendar months service and provided that the employee pays the full monthly premiums in advance to the Employer. Casual employees who do not elect to enroll prior to completion of three (3) months service may elect to enroll on their anniversary date in subsequent years. Casual employees who fail to maintain required premiums will have their participation in the benefit plans terminated. Casual employees who voluntarily terminate their participation in the benefit plans or who are terminated from such participation by reason of failure to maintain required premiums will not be entitled to re-enroll in the benefits plan.

It is understood and intended by the parties to this Agreement that the purpose of this clause is to establish an Employer financed Health and Welfare Trust and that contributions thereto shall not be deemed to be wages to which any employee shall have any right other than the right to have such contributions paid over to the Trust fund in accordance herewith. Failure of an individual Employer to make all payments provided for, including liquidated damages for late payments, within the time specified, shall be a breach of this Agreement and will further require action by the Trustees as set forth in the Trust Agreement. Any increase in the required contributions set forth above will be paid equally (50% by the Employer and 50% by the Employee). The amount paid by the Employee will come from their NEAP contribution.
