CUMULATIVE SICK LEAVE CREDITS. C.3.0.1 All of the articles in Section C.3.0 apply to all of the teachers employed with The York Region Board of Education on December 31, 1997 and who became employees of the York Region District School Board as of January 1, 1998 as if there was no break in service. C.3.1 The Sick Leave Account of each teacher shall be credited with 20 days per year, on September 1 of each year, in advance. C.3.2 In the event of illness, a teacher shall be paid at his/her regular per diem rate of pay until the number of days standing to the credit of his/her sick leave credit account has been exhausted. C.3.3 There shall be a maximum accumulation of 250 days for sick leave purposes. In those special cases where the credit as of 1974 06 30 exceeds this amount the maximum shall be this figure plus 20 days or, where the credit as of 1969 06 30 exceeded this amount, the maximum shall be his/her credit as of 1969 06 30 plus 20 days whichever is greater after the addition in C.3.1 above has been made. C.3.4.1 For a teacher commencing employment after the first day of the working year, the Sick Leave Credit shall be prorated in advance at 2 days per month from the date of commencing employment until the end of the working year. For a teacher ceasing employment or going on leave before completion of the year, the allowance shall be pro-rated at 2 days per month according to the number of months worked. C.3.4.2 Part-time teachers or teachers whose percentage assignment changes during the school year will have their current school year sick leave credit pro-rated. C.3.4.3 For a teacher who has reached the age of 65 and who has applied for an extension, the sick leave and retirement gratuity credits at the time he/she would normally have retired shall be available at the discretion of the Board. If the teacher applies to have these credits made available and the Board refuses, the teacher may immediately claim any retirement gratuity credits which would have been payable if no extension had been requested.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave The normal cumulative sick leave allowance each year shall be ten (10) days for employees on thirty-eight (38) through forty-two (42) week assignments. Teachers on eleven (11) and twelve (12) month assignments shall receive one (1) day per month up to a maximum of twelve (12) days each year. A teacher shall be permitted to carry forward the unused portion of sick leave without limit. The balance of accumulated sick leave shall be printed on the teacher's bi-weekly statement of earnings.

  • Sick Leave Credits (a) Prior to the commencement of maternity leave, illness arising due to pregnancy may be covered by normal sick leave. (b) Sick leave may be used by any pregnant employee, authorized by the receipt of a qualified medical practitioner's statement to the Employer, where there is a confirmed case of German measles or any other disease or condition in the place of employment which could be harmful to pregnancy as determined by the qualified medical practitioner's statement or report. They may use this leave until all danger from such disease or condition no longer exists.

  • Vacation Leave Credits ‌ Full-time and part-time employees will be credited with vacation leave accrued monthly, according to the rate schedule and vacation leave accrual below.

  • Sick Leave Credit All employees shall be able to draw on a block of six (6) days sick leave when they commence employment. If all or part of this block of sick leave is used it will be paid back as sick leave is accumulated. If an employee ceases employment and has a negative balance in sick leave credit, this amount will be deducted from his/her final paycheque.

  • Sick Leave Credit-Based Retirement Gratuities 1) A Teacher is not eligible to receive a sick leave credit gratuity after August 31, 2012, except a sick leave credit gratuity that the Teacher had accumulated and was eligible to receive as of that day. 2) If the Teacher is eligible to receive a sick leave credit gratuity, upon the Teacher’s retirement, the gratuity shall be paid out at the lesser of, a) the rate of pay specified by the board’s system of sick leave credit gratuities that applied to the Teacher on August 31, 2012; and b) the Teacher’s salary as of August 31, 2012. 3) If a sick leave credit gratuity is payable upon the death of a Teacher, the gratuity shall be paid out in accordance with subsection (2). 4) For greater clarity, all eligibility requirements must have been met as of August 31, 2012 to be eligible for the aforementioned payment upon retirement, and the Employer and Union agree that any and all wind-up payments to which Teachers without the necessary years of service were entitled to under Ontario Regulation 01/13: Sick Leave Credits and Sick Leave Credit Gratuities, have been paid. 5) For the purposes of the following boards, despite anything in the board’s system of sick leave credit gratuities, it is a condition of eligibility to receive a sick leave credit gratuity that the Teacher have ten (10) years of service with the board: i. Near North District School Board ii. Avon Maitland District School Board iii. Xxxxxxxx-Xxxxxxxxx District School Board

  • Accumulation of Vacation Leave Credits An employee shall earn vacation leave credits for each calendar month during which the employee receives pay for at least ten (10) days at the following rate:

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Accrual of Sick Leave a. A full-time employee shall accrue four (4) hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period, or the number of hours that are directly proportionate to the number of days worked during less than a full-pay period, without limitation as to the total number of hours that may be accrued. b. A part-time employee shall accrue sick leave at a rate directly proportionate to the percent of time employed. c. An employee appointed under Other Personal Services (OPS) shall not accrue sick leave.

  • Vacation Leave on Retirement ‌ An employee scheduled to retire and to receive pension benefits under the Public Service Pension Plan Rules or who has reached the mandatory retiring age, shall be granted full vacation entitlement for the final calendar year of service.

  • Sick Leave Usage 1. Sick leave may be used by an employee when sick, injured, or quarantined. Also sick leave may be used on the occasion of an illness in the employee's family, where a need can be shown. 2. In computing compensation payable for sick leave, the compensation paid shall be the amount the employee would earn during the sick leave period if working at their current rate of pay and work schedule without the inclusion of overtime earnings.
