If an employee elects to defer a holiday, he or she must make the request in writing at a time to be determined by the Sheriff. Deferred holidays will be paid annually in the December pay check. If an employee elects to defer a holiday but then wishes to take the holiday off, he or she must submit a vacation request. An employee who defers the floating holiday will not be deemed to have worked on the floating holiday for purposes of section 18.5A and will not receive time and one-half (1.5) pay under that section.
