Holiday Payment. 4.1 Where an employee works on a holiday specified in Article 47 (Holidays) and opts for compensating leave under Article UN13.2 or COR13.2, he or she may elect, at that time, to receive, in addition to his or her entitlement under Article UN13.2 or COR13.2, further leave equal to the difference between the number of hours in the employee’s normal work day and his or her entitlement under Article UN13.2

Holiday Payment. 73.1.1 An employee shall be entitled to a paid holiday each year on each of the following days which fall on a day that is a regularly scheduled work day for the employee: New Year’s Day Good Friday Easter Monday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Christmas Day Boxing Day Family Day Any special holiday as proclaimed by the Governor General or the Lieutenant Governor. 73.1.2 An employee shall be compensated for each of the holidays to which he or she is entitled under Article 73. 1.1. The compensation shall be equivalent to that of his or her regularly scheduled working day, but shall not exceed seven and one-quarter (7¼) or eight (8) hours, as applicable.
Holiday Payment. A member, except as provided in Section 18.9 hereof, shall be compensated an additional eight (8) hours for each of the holidays specified in Section 18.1 for which the member was in paid status and holiday leave was not used. Payment shall be made in one (1) lump sum installment. Payment will be made after December 31 each year but before January 31 of the next year.

For each holiday listed above, employees shall receive their regular daily rate as holiday pay, regardless of whether they work the holiday or not, provided they were employed during the holiday. ,Employees are paid at their normal hourly rate for holidays, and time and a half their hourly rate for working overtime. In addition, employees who work on a holiday will receive holiday premium pay in an amount equal to one half their regular hourly rate for all hours worked on the holiday.. For clarification, a continuous shift beginning or ending on a holiday shall qualify for holiday pay as defined in this section (Pro-rata amounts for Christmas Eve). B. Eighty-four (84) hours of holiday pay, at the then-current rate of pay, shall be paid once per year by separate check payable with the last paycheck issued in October for the Veteran’s Day through Labor Day prior to payment for which the employee was employed on the work day before and after the holiday. C. In regards to shifts that straddle midnight, only one working day will be counted as a holiday for which this benefit is intended.

Employees on sick leave on a holiday or the day immediately preceding or following a holiday shall not receive holiday pay unless the employee provides a written statement from a licensed medical physician stating the nature of the illness and that such illness required the employee to be absent from work.

Holiday Payment i) Full-time nurses shall be paid time and one-half (1½) for work performed on the above holidays and in addition shall be entitled to a day off with pay either before or within thirty (30) days. ii) Part-time nurses shall be paid double-time and one-half (2½) of their regular pay for working on any of the above holidays. (b) If the Employer requires a nurse to work overtime beyond her/his full tour on the holiday, she/he shall be paid two (2) times her/his regular straight time hourly rate for such overtime hours worked. (c) i) When a full-time nurse is not scheduled to work on a recognized holiday, she/he shall be given the day off with pay.
Holiday Payment. OAD13.1 Where an employee works on a holiday included under Article 47 (Holidays) of the Central Collective Agreement, he or she shall be paid at the rate of two (2) times his or her basic hourly rate for all hours worked with a minimum credit of seven and one-quarter (7 1⁄4), eight (8), or the number of regularly scheduled hours, as applicable. OAD13.2 In addition to the paym ent provided by Article OAD13.1, an employee who works on the holiday shall receive either seven and one-quarter ( 7 1⁄4 ) or eight (8) hours pay as applicable at his or her basic hourly rate or compensating leave of seven and one-quarter (7 1⁄4 ) or eight (8) hours as applicable, provided the employee opts for compensating leave prior to the holiday. OAD13.3 It is understood that Articles OAD13.1 and OAD13.2 apply only to an employee who is authorized to work on the holiday and who actually works on the holiday, and that an employee who, for any reason, does not actually work on the holiday shall not be entitled to the payments described herein. OAD13.4 When a holiday included under Article 47 (Holidays) of the Central Collective Agreement coincides with an employee’s scheduled day off and he or she does not work on that day, the em ployee shall be entitled to receive another day off. OAD13.5 Any compensating leave accumulated under Articles OAD13.2 and OAD13.4 may be taken off at a time mutually agreed upon. Failing agreem ent, such time off may be taken in conjunction with the employee’s vacation leave or regular day(s) off, if requested one (1) month in advance. OAD13.6 Any compensating leave accumulated under Articles OAD13.2 and OAD13.4 in a calendar year which is not used before March 31 of the following year shall be paid at the rate it was earned. The March 31 date may be extended by agreement at the local or ministry level. OAD13.7 Notwithstanding anything in Article OAD13, employees who are in classifications assigned to Schedule 6 and who are required to work on a holiday included in Article 47 (Holidays) of the Central Collective Agreement shall receive equivalent time off.
