Christmas Eve. A Nurse who works a shift between 12 00 hours and 24 00 hours on December 24th shall receive an hour off for each hour worked up to a maximum of four (4) hours off. This provision is not applicable to a Casual Nurse (except a Casual Nurse while in a Temporary Position).
Christmas Eve. The Courts will determine the staffing requirement for December 24th during the early part of December so that as many employees as possible can plan to have that day off.
Christmas Eve. The City shall provide an additional paid half (1 ½) day holiday on the afternoon (4 hours) of December 24th, known as Christmas Eve. 10. a) Premium rates on the Holiday: The Holiday is the twenty-four hour period from 00:00 to 24:00 and employees are compensated at the premium rate for hours worked on the holiday.
Example 1: An employee who commences the night shift on November 10 will not be paid a premium rate for the hours between 19:00 and 24:00. The employee will be paid the premium rate for the hours worked between 00:00 and 07:00 on November 11.
Example 2: An employee who works the night shifts on December 26th and December 27th will be paid the premium rate for the hours worked between 19:00 and 24:00 on December 26th but will not be paid the premium rate for hours between 00:00 and 07:00 on December 27th.
Christmas Eve. The second half of the working day prior to Christmas Day (Christmas Eve) shall be designated as a holiday.
Christmas Eve. All full-time and part-time employees will receive one-half (1/2) day off with pay on 24 December. In the event that 24 December falls on a Saturday or Sunday, permanent employees will receive the one-half (1/2) day with pay on the Friday immediately preceding.

Employees assigned to the role of Lieutenant or Detective Sergeant may be given the day off with pay at the discretion of the Director.
